Default Coming back! Question….

….after selling my 05 C6 seven years ago! I've been lurking here …learning about the C7! I was one of the "founding fathers" of the C6 section back in 04/05 so I know the ropes…BUTTT…have been away for 7 years! Anyway….first question: is the transparent roof option on the coupe also carbon fiber? Thanks….

There are two roof package options. 1) The standard painted (to match the car) carbon fiber roof and the transparent roof. And, 2) The CF non painted roof and the transparent roof. Option 2 is $1,000 more than the standard.

No. Same material as the C6 transparent roof. The transparent roof is heavier than the painted and the visible carbon fiber roofs (which are both made from carbon fiber) and these carbon fiber roofs are about 8 pounds lighter than the non-transparent C6 roof.

The c7 doesn't have the new "invisible" carbon fiber option

What if I were to show you how to make a wall that would do the same thing, but only be 1 inch thick? Would that be worth somethin' to ya laddy?

Computer?

Transparent aluminum?

I had a transparent roof on my C6 in addition to a painted roof .... seldom used the transparent, - only in the spring and fall. The A/C could keep up easily but still there were hot and cold spots during summer. I now have a painted CF roof, and, as stated, 8 pounds lighter than my C6 roof. I really like it.

I have no idea what the invisible carbon fiber roof you reference is. The CF is available either painted or the visible carbon fiber which is more $$$$. There are 2 dual roof packages available. One is the body color roof package #C2Q @$1,995. It includes the painted carbon fiber and transparent roofs. And the visible carbon fiber roof and the transparent roof. I don't have the option number on it. It is $2995.

I can't recall which one is it was, but I thought I read the roof weighs 16 lbs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Except for the bulkiness, at that weight I'd think you could lift it off. The more difficult thing is putting it back on without dropping it someplace.

The CF is light and should not present a problem. The Transparent is a good bit heavier, but still doable by one person, just awkward.

Coupe has the vents, vert doesn't. Vents are functional on Z51 coupe, not functional on base coupe. Vert Z51 uses vent intakes under the car for the trans and diff coolers.

The quarter vents are used for brake cooling on both the Z51 and on the base C7. Z51 has directed flow for cooling on the differential and transmission as well. The cowling vents and front side vents serve the same functions on both vehicles.

This is an interesting thread I am enjoying; I have to admit, the biggest surprise is going to a Miata from a C6 Corvette? I don't drive aggressively all the time but it is one of the reasons I like the C6 Z06; it's like a first drive every time to 7k rpm, insane. And cruises great with my wife. She's the one (surprisingly) saying don't ever sell this one. There's nothing out there for $50k ish that would do it for me and the fact that it's an American made Corvette makes it even better.

LOL - Somehow ended up on this thread while looking at this thread in C6 General section Jeezzz
