So the dealer I purchased my new C7 through, just placed the order today and received a order number of "RQMS0M". I ran that number across the order tracking website and received an "order not found" statement.
My questions are:
1. Does this appear to be a "typical" order number?
2. Did I check to soon? I ran the number literally moments after he e-mailed me.
3. How soon can one check an order number after the order is placed?
4. Am I obsessing to soon?
5. Should I have a glass of wine and just relax?

I got a number on the dealer's form but it's their number. I just think it's a long wait & I hope they weren't bs'ing me.
Your dealer should have no trouble giving you a copy of the GM OrderWORKBENCH document. This will have the info about the dealer, customer, and order, along with a 6 digit number currently starting with R, as posted by the OP. On this document will also be your status number. 1100 means your dealer has managed to type your order into the computer. A status of at least 2000 means your dealer has an allocation to match your order, with any constrained options, and GM has officially accepted your order. Until you get to 2000, you basically have no status, and may not get your car.
My order did appear on the GM site this morning and as indicated by others, simply shows that the car had been ordered. I did not see where there were any numeric status codes, just the fact that the order had been, "placed". Therefore, I guess I am at the dreaded "1100" for the moment....

That you are if it's been a day. I assumed you ordered from a large forum dealer, if so, you will be fine. Should see 3000 in under two weeks.
If you didn't, then might want to get a bigger bottle of wine.
Check-in with the order thread at the top of this page every week or so, and you'll be able to get a status code update from Chevy Cust Service.

Dont worry I freaked about this too when I first got my order number. Should appear in a few days.

Dealers got their consensus figures today, they have till Sat to make changes. If your order has no constraints and was provided a allocation your status should go up after the weekend. If no problems exist in the order and you were assigned a allocated unit you should be in the 3000s next week.

Can you explain to me what "consensus figures" are? thanks...
