Default Strange behavior?

I've noticed a few things on my Z51 3LT...

First - Every few times I start the car, I have no control of the audio functions (volume, channels, etc) through the steering wheel, and in the center multi-function display it says "No Audio".

The radio still works fine if I use the radio itself to change channels, volume. But I get no channel/song info, and no control.

If I stop the car, shut it off, and wait a minute and restart, it works again.

Second - The power drivers seat...I have it set to the 'easy exit' setting...Steering wheel moves up, and seat slides back when I shut the car off. But...When I go to get back into the car, as soon as I open the door, the steering wheel goes down, and the seat moves up....Most other cars I own wait until I start the car before going into the drivers memory position.

Third - If I leave the car in 'Track' mode, the next time I start the car, sometimes it's in Sport mode...Sometimes it's in Touring mode, but NEVER Track mode...

Is this stuff normal? Thx!

I'm guessing 1 and 3 may require a software update although I never leave my car in track mode.

As for number two, on the infotainment system, hit the home button then select the settings menu. Then scroll down and select Vehicle. Next select Comfort and Convenience. From there, you can turn auto memory recall on or off. I'm guessing it's set to on which will recall the memory settings when you open the door.

My Z51 will never stay in track mode after it shuts off and will always be in tour mode after I restart. I don't have this issue in any other mode. Not sure if it's an issue or some programmers idea of a safety feature.

Try setting your seat to move on engine start not door open in prefernces, that may solve that one issue

For the 2nd item, if you have a std shift this will help: set Auto Recall OFF and Easy Exit On. You'll have to hold the memory recall button until it returns to the program setting but that will eliminate the silly auto return before you get in!
On the last item, I have also noted if left in Track it returns to Tour when I start. I keep mine in Sport and it always starts in Sport.

I bet you have a manual transmission car. So with auto recall on that is what happens, stupid programing by Chevy, and They say they designed it that way.

Not an option or choice on the Manual transmission cars.

Stupid that it can not even be set to a press and release. Only car I have ever owned you could not press and release.

I had the same problem with weather mode. It was raining so I put the car in weather mode. When I restarted the car it was in Touring mode. Same thing happened a few hours later.

Normally I leave the car in Sport mode, and it always stays there. My guess is that the programming does not want you to stay in the Weather mode on an ongoing basis.

I have had the no audio control on the steering wheel a couple of times also. I have had all software updates that are available. It does come back on a restart.

Look for software updates during the 2014 build cycle. A lot of customer complaints about illogical actions will be adressed if you complain to your dealer.

This been true for several generations. C5Zs always defaulted away from competition mode (or "off") into regular mode with active handling every time you turned off the car.

I almost never use radio, but I have had similar issues with my USB media. I find that if I go to the home screen and back to the media screen, it usually redisplays the proper information and controls. Try that the next time it happens and see if it helps. It's certainly quicker than shutting down the engine and restarting.

Good luck!

As to the modes, after a several times and consciously paying attention--
If in anything other than Sport, the default is Touring. This has been almost 100% reproducible for me. I have an auto Z51.

I have been leaving it in Sport for the most part--it's more gratifying when I remote start to have it roar to life

As to No Radio message displayed--I had this happen when I tried to use steering controls too soon after ignition. I had been listening to USB at shut down and when I started it up it was already in MEDIA option and maybe busy trying to index the files. The message went away fairly quick.

As for memory seats, so many have had issues. Those of us with autos may have lucked out as we seem to have more options to preference our seat movements. As a side note, I was having some issues with memory adjustments going from 1 to 2. Module was replaced and all is good.

Wow, thanks for all the replies...Looks like I'll just have to wait for some updates.

Other than those minor issues, it's a really good car. Even the stock performance exhaust sounds GREAT.

You can change the default to track mode, at least on the speedo readout theme, but it seems like the flaps are closed regardless.
