this is why the price of a used vette is always in the toilet.
I have to disagree. Take a stroll through the for sale section and autotrader. 2008 vettes are going for 35-40K with 40K miles. That is a 6 year old, used car for still more than half of what it was bought for. I don't think that is a toilet number.
GM wouldn't be offering it and the dealers wouldn't be selling their C7's for GMS money if they thought demand was high enough to sell all those C7's for MSRP.
I am confused. GM is following its standard practice which has been effect as far back as I can remember (albeit with some modifications over the course of the decades) and this is being seen as a negative?
Les Stanford sells more Corvettes in the Detroit metro area than any other area dealer. Detroit, my friend, where the likelihood of finding a new car dealer of an American based manufacturer not offering employee pricing is so slim as I suspect can not be found. I think Ford excluded the SVO but what did they make per year? Less than a hundred?

Precisely! The guys at GM have the sales #s for the weeks, months, years, etc. and they know when it is time to bring on the incentives. They know more about it than internet forum guys do and obviously see a trend. Look at the stockpiles of C7s that the larger volume Corvette dealers have under their wings at this early stage of the C7 run. Prices are coming down which will really reward the guys who have put off a C7 purchase for a few months.
Yes they do. I need to check with a friend who is a retired GM employee(management). He said he might be getting a C7 when they offer the employee discount.

Asking and selling are two different numbers. And the trend is poking into the C7
TIME,TIME,TIME IS ON MY SIDE.....YES IT IS.....TIME,TIME,TIME.........
Come on supplier discount in the next 3 weeks--nice $6K discount for me :-)
I'm with you, ordered my car last week. Would be fantastic if supplier discount became available in the next few weeks. In the past do GMS and the supplier discount normally become available at the same time?

40 grand for an '08 with 40,000 on the clock? I must have gotten one hell of deal on my '08 new. I got an '08 Coupe, MN6, NPP, for $40,500 brand new in May of '08.

Not sure where you got this figure. Could you tell us? I was quoted an approximate $4500.00 savings on a $62,000.00 C-7 by a salesman at Les Stanford a month ago, if/when the GM Supplier Discount went into effect.

GM Supplier discount is abbreviated as
"GM Supplier" (serious) and no other way.
GM employee pricing is/was like this:
GMS
and
GMO
GMS = GM employee discount, in-stock units
GMO = GM employee discount, on ordered vehicles.
The GMO discount was always a little more than if you purchased an in-stock unit. It is/was to encourage ordering.
How does this all pan out in 2014? I don't know.
I don't follow the GM Employee discount program - until I'm ready to buy a vehicle - then I get reaquainted with the details/specifics/recent changes.
I am eligible for GM Employee discount, and will only order a C7 with said discount. I am hoping it will be in full-swing at the beginning of the 2015 order cycle.
Okay. Well, that seems like it should be a reliable figure. Can't understand why the salesman gave me the $4500.00 figure then. One would THINK that he'd be more reliable than that.....I know inaccurate stuff has come from salesmen in the past and will continue, but I "thought" it would be more accurate than some "back woods" dealership info. Maybe not

Here's a different shot--and don't believe a salesguy.
