Default Things had been going so smooth......

Until this morning when my infotainment display started
scrolling wildly, top to bottom. Then the screen went black.
I tried opening and closing the "door", toggling it up and down
but it still stayed totally dark.

At 5000 miles this is my first issue. Has anyone had this happen?

I guess a Monday morning visit to the dealership is in order.

You might try to disconnect the negative battery terminal and give it a few minutes then reconnect.

Good old reboot. I work in IT though so I think differently

I wouldn't do that simply because in the "old" days it erased the code in the controller that would help identify the problem. I don't know if that is the case now, but it may do more harm than good.

VNAMVET,

I can understand any displeasure created by your infotainment concerns, but it's great that you have an appointment planned. Please keep us posted and don't hesitate to let us know if additional assistance is needed.

Kind regards,

Congrats, you have the BSD!! Otherwise known as the black screen of death. See C7 reported issues and fixes sub-page for all the others who have this defect. I thought it was a software issue, but the fix seems to be to replace hardware, so GM got sold a bunch of defective parts!
All in all, still a great car. If your dealership doesn't have a clue how to fix, show them this site and the above sub-page. It has happened enough times that you'd think there would be a service bulletin # posted; but so far I have not seen one.
I'm infected as well, but putting up with it till first oil change! I hope my local "low allocations" dealer has a mechanic that is C7 trained.

Happened to me...called customer service, customer called my dealer, dealer set up an appointment. Had a new infotainment system display installed and software reflashed on 4/2/14...been perfect ever since.

Except for the shock of my screen flickering, the whole process was pretty painless.

VIN 3393, built/delivered October '14 - Issue happened at ~4500 miles.

Agreed but we should all make a pledge to stop feeding certain members. They eventually starve and go away

My vin # is 3385. Built same week as MHForntaine's. I have 1300 miles and no problems yet. Wondering if its an hours in operation or maybe the number of on/off cycles that makes it fail? Seems mileage would not be a good indicator.
If and when it happens I will contact Cust. Serv. first so I as not have to visit the dealer twice, plus I need the dim dash reflash anyway.
Thank for the info.
