I am following the maze of confusion and trying to decipher when I might get my new C-7 Convertible. Would one of you more experienced folks clarify if a "Order Placed" on the GM Order tracking web page is the same as 2200 or is it the same as 1100 Preliminary Order????? Thanks in advance!!!!!

It can be 1100 or 2000. Call your dealership and ask them to text you a screenshot of the GM status. I did that and I can clearly see that I'm at 2000 but on the Chevrolet site it says "Order placed" still

The fact you were able to enter an order number on the GM site, and get any kind of status means GM knows you exist. This means you are at least at 1102, which means the dealer placed the order with GM.
You will be at Order Placed status on the GM Order tracking website from 1100 through 3000, at which point it moves to Order Queued for Production
Unless it reaches 2000 It's not an official order from GM yet and you are not guaranteed a car, as it's not accepted by GM yet. 1100 dealer put the order in and that's it.
Where do you get "Preliminary Order Accepted" from in a status code 1100?
I took that part out of my reply above to eliminate confusion, but since you asked, below is exactly what was in my "Preliminary Order Detail - Order # RQQRXF" stated in writing on 2/28, with a note from my dealer in the email where he said the order was accepted by GM. I immediately moved to 2000 after this.
"Event Description: 1100 - Preliminary Order Accepted"
As long as you were at 1100 by the end of the day on 3/2, you are price protected against the price increase.

Been a change then because the "official" list doesn't show that 1100 means that. Thanks for the update

I agree, since 1100 is not "Preliminary Order Accepted."
Maybe what they were trying to say in the order document was that I was at 1100, but the order was already accepted by GM. That would make sense, since I moved to 2000 almost immediately, according to my dealer. It begs the question why the order document didn't just say "2000 - Preliminary Order Accepted." in the first place. GM - go figure.
Not sure if this is any help to the OP so I don't want to hijack the thread from here.
I think the best response was that since it shows up on the GM Web site then the order exists....Got a personal e mail today from customer service saying not to worry that I would at some point get the Z51. Thanks all....trying to be patient.....
There is a "Chat Now" tab on the order tracking website. You can ask there. Ask specifically for your current event code.
Yes. The key words are "event code". That leaves no room for misinterpretation.
As others have said it's important to get out of 1100 and into 2000. Once you make that move things start moving at a reasonable pace. Some people have been stuck at 1100 for months and months because that particular dealership was waiting to match a future allocation to the order.
You can also call your sales guy at the dealership and ask him for the event code and tell him to email you any changes to the event code to you so that you can be updated in a regular basis. They have an obligation to assist you through this process.
Can you view your status number on the Track Your Order page? If not, where can you find it?
Any time you dealer wants, they can pull up your order in the form of a GM OrderWORKBENCH document. This has information about the dealer, customer, options, and order status, and lists the internal GM status number. The fact that it's an internal GM system is the reason you cannot see the number on the public GM tracking website.
On the other hand, a good dealer, concerned with customer service, should have no problem pulling it up for you. It can also be save and emailed in the PDF format. My dealer sent me a weekly email with my status, as well as a copy of the PDF whenever the status changed.
To answer the original question, anything below 3000 would qualify for order accepted on the public site. Somewhere in the sticky threads at the top of this sub-forum is a list of all the various status numbers previously listed above, but color coded to show which belong to which of the five steps on the public tracking site.
Question on dealer allocations. If a dealer has two allocations, are the allocations broken down by model? For example, can the dealer split his orders between coupe and convertible or are the allocations type specific?

I thought the allocations were type specific: coupe; convertible; Z51. But maybe someone can verify that.

Once your order is assigned to an allocation by your dealer, you will very quickly move from 1100 to 3000.

Does your order have any items on constraint (for a vert, basically is it a Z51)? How many allocations does your dealer get each week? How many are in line in front of you at this dealer? The answer to these questions is crucial in trying to determine how long it might be before you get your C7. Low volume (few allocations) and constraints = you likely not getting a 2014. Plenty of threads about allocations, research them.
