Default Tires --- plus sizes?????

has anyone gone to plus sizes on the Z51 tires? I am thinking of 265/30-19 and 305/25-20 on 19 x 9.5 and 20 x 11 wheels. anyone tried these sizes? I figure that the diameter and revs/mile are only about 1% different, so that should not be an issue for the electronic nannies.

I tried searching the threads, but came up empty. that is probably a reflection on my computer skills, so please don't berate me. a referral to a relevant thread is just as good as an answer.

I still remember black and white TV's. and tuning Holley carbs, as well as SU's and Webers, and I know what points and a condenser do, but electrons baffle me.

opinions are welcome, knowledge and experience preferred

With the C7 265/305 tire sizes and 9.5"/11" wide wheels, the wheel offsets should to be 56mm to 51mm front and 79mm to 74mm rear.

And then here's my tire size chart:

Stock:

245/40-18, front, 25.7" diameter, 8.5" wheel width
285/35-19, rear, 26.9" diameter, 10" wheel width

245/35-19, front, 25.8" diameter, 8.5" wheel width
285/30-20, rear, 26.8" diameter, 10" wheel width

Medium:

255/40-18, front, 26" diameter, 9" wheel width
295/35-19, rear, 27.1" diameter, 10.5" wheel width

255/35-19, front, 26" diameter, 9" wheel width
295/30-20, rear, 27" diameter, 10.5" wheel width

Wide but not extreme:

265/35-18, front, 25.3" diameter, 9.5" wheel width
305/30-19, rear, 26.3" diameter, 11" wheel width

265/30-19, front, 25.3" diameter, 9.5" wheel width, short sidewall
305/30-19, rear, 26.3" diameter, 11" wheel width

265/30-19, front, 25.3" diameter, 9.5" wheel width, short sidewall
305/25-20, rear, 26.0" diameter, 11" wheel width, short sidewall

265/35-19, front, 26.3" diameter, 9.5" wheel width
305/30-20, rear, 27.2" diameter, 11" wheel width
.

wider tires will fit on the rear of the C7 but when you get into really wide tires it requires removal of the brake cooling ducts.

what would be the benefit of going wider or larger? More options or hopes of better ride from higher sidewall etc?

We have done 20/21 setups with 375 rear tires but on Z51 have to remove rear brake ducts for anything over 305 typically. The fitments available for these C7's are numerous depending on what width wheels you want to run etc etc.

You can definitely go plus size wheels, tires, you name it with no ill effects on the vehicle If you need anything just shoot us a PM

thanks to all who responded

I am not as interested in the wider tires as I am in the wheels. I fell in love with the Cray 5 spoke wheels. The rears are 20 x 10.5. The Michelin specs on the TireRack website show 9"-10" as allowable rim width for Michelin rear tires. If I want the wheels, I have to go to wider tires.

I am not comfortable putting the stock tires on the wider wheels.
