Default Splash Guards

Not sure if this has been discussed, but has anyone else purchased splash guards for the C7? I did and was a little upset after I went to install them. GM already has a plastic piece that needs to be removed to install the splash guards. Honestly, comparing it against the splash guard, there is only a little lip extended on the splash guard. They almost look the same. Why not just have the splash guard installed? An extra 20 cents worth of plastic cost me near $130.00, lol! I only hope they do keep the extra splashes off my lower end of the fenders...

Why? So they can have the Genuine Corvette Accessory version and make money on them.

I ordered them but they haven't shown up yet. I'm on the fence about them since I don't really know how they will look on the car. The pics I've seen still leave me unsure, especially since my car is white. I guess I'll know in a few days.

You guys are not really on the issue.

I ordered them today.

I ordered the car last Wednesday.

If you want to keep the rocks from destroying your car, get the splash guards.

The guards alone won't do it. They're a start but they alone will not protect your paint

Here are some more pics....

I've shown them to "car guys" like myself and everyone agrees it's great protection without it being a "mud flap"

EDIT: Sorry for the sideways pics.

Very worthwhile purchase. They should have come with the car!

Thanks. Even sideways they are at the right angle and what I wanted to see. Looks like I'll be happy.

I got them and feel they provide some protection. However, I got a stone chip on I75 the other day. Stone hit the door on the sharp character line and hit rear fender in front of rear tire just behind the GM installed clear film protectant. I don't know whether my front tire kicked up the stone. The sound of it hitting made me feel sick. It is part of having a daily driver, I guess.

I bought and installed those splash guards and yes they extend out only about 1/2-3/4 inches more than OEM. But that may be all that's needed, I will see. Also agree they should have been factory installed but were not probably not to disrupt air flow along the lower body?

Just chalk it up to another example of the "Corvette Tax" on everything.
I go to the Carlisle GM Nationals Show and it only costs $40 to park any GM product on the Show Field, Corvettes included. But at the Corvette at Carlisle Show it is $75 to do the same, but now called the Fun Field. Both great shows not to miss annually for me.

Yes they could be included in the base price. If they were in the base price, I am sure there would be posts that they add drag to the car, why are they black and not body color, how about carbon fiber, they stick out too far, they should stick out more, or they look terrible. And, making money on Genuine Corvette Accessories is part of being in business to make a profit.

I installed the GM splash guards and think they are a help. What puzzles me is why did they made such an elaborate piece of plastic with clips for the standard car? A couple of screws and flat plastic 1 inch wide would cover the seam if that was felt necessary. Perhaps we'll see something different for the 2015 Z06 with wider tires? Can’t believe they did it for a small extra profit selling these ad-ons. Assuming the dealer gets a 50% discount there is not a great deal of margin left for GM. Some have quoted high prices for a dealer install, but they are so easy to put on even a non-DIY person can do it.

You're welcome. At least I talked about the topic at hand as your response was simply a polite "Thank You" but not on topic.

I endorse the splash guards. I have them on my C6. I will have them on my C7.

They help to minimize debris (spray) thrown up from the front and rear tires…they do make a significant difference..especially on wet roads
