Is there a front facing camera? I watched a special with Hendricks and he said there is a front facing camera.

Hendricks took museum delivery of a black vert and was wowed about all the features, including the front and rear camera. He must of been mistaken.

Rear camera is standard. Front camera is going to be an option in 2015 model year.

Hmph, so can you use the PDR as a front facing camera when you're parking and avoid undue damage to your bumper and/or splitter?

Now that I have rear view cameras on a couple of cars I wonder how I got along without them. A blind spot camera would be nice.

I wondered the same thing when I heard him say that about the front camera. Wonder if that footage wasn’t put together and that clip was perhaps taken after the 2015 was announced! I was number 9 in line for a C7 at Hendrick in Cary NC and Rick picked up his car only about a month before I got mine. In the film there were other C7’s in the shot where he mentions the front camera. There were no other C7’s in Cary when I picked up mine in early October; they were receiving only customer cars. The Hendrick guys in Cary were great to deal with.

Out of curiosity....

Do we have the ability to add a front camera? I'd do that if it were something that we could add.

I'm confident that the OEM PDR will be able to retrofitted into the current C7!

I expect it was originally supposed to be with the 2014 model, either as option or included , because the camera mount is already in the C7 and the software/hardware took longer than expected !

Cost maybe another factor

That would be my interest in a front camera as well.

I don't believe the PDR will display on the head unit like the rear, back up camera does when you are in reverse.

From the info and videos we have seen the PDR is going to record video and overlay data on a dedicated SD card that has a slot in glove box. Probably would be a massive distraction to have it on the head unit, and wiring another input to the HU would likely be an issue as well.

Unfortunately you will likely be proven correct as much as I would like to see the lower front end on an approach for parking.

When I did the preliminary order with my dealer the PDR was listed as an available option. It was later removed when the official order system went live. All info I received was that it wasn't ready yet.

Since the infotainment system can have apps added to it, the SD card slots and camera mounting point exists, a retrofit should be possible.
