Default Ordering a 2015

When is the earliest that one can order a 2015 C7? I see others here say they have one on order but my local dealer tells me it's too early. Maybe folks are just being put on their dealer's "wait list?"

Are the next model years usually available to officially order by June or July? After ordering, how many weeks to you typically wait for delivery? All this given there are no delays at the assembly plant, of course.

I want to do an R8C but would love to take delivery in August. Think there's a chance of that?

Museum delivery in August of a 2015 - highly unlikely. The best information we have at this time is that 2015 production starts 8/11. NCM delivery can be scheduled at the earliest 2 weeks after the build date.

Not if you want a 2015.

15's start production around August 11th. Then add a few weeks if you get one of the first ones and your looking at early September plus at least $2K more in price increase. Just in time for storage if you live in a northern state.

Gotcha. Oh well, it was worth considering. Guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer. Mid September - Early October wouldn't be so bad, really. Living in Central Florida doesn't make for a winter storage issue, fortunately.

I could buy a 2014 from dealer stock right now which would be close, but not exactly what I want. Seems to me that if I'm going to spend this kind of money it's better not to compromise.

I too will be ordering a 2015 and it has not been announced as to when the order guides will be released.....but best guess is June. It is highly unlikely that a price increase will occur with the first 2015 orders since their was a significant increase on March 1. However, with that being said, I would be expecting another increase a couple months or so after 2015 orders start being taken. The good news is that you will be price protected once your order is placed so any future increases would not affect your order. Good luck.

As it's all speculation right now, who knows. My money is there WILL be a price increase on model from get go. Would be smarter than later in year (or both ).

You are correct. I am simply basing my assumption on my gut and information from my dealer.

I am currently #1 on the list for a 2015 at one of the top 10 volume Corvette dealers in the country and they did not FEEL their would be an immediate price increase based upon past history. This mirrors my fathers opinion who worked for GM for 30 years and has witnessed the past patterns of increases over the years. But you are correct......no one really knows at this point in time. I will be attending the April Bash at Bowling Green later in April and I wonder if they will announce that type of information. In the end it really dosen't matter.....the car will be in the garage regardless what GM decides to do in my case. All is good.

Did you have to put down a deposit to be on the waiting list? My dealer is asking me to.

Forget the mid year price increase keeping the 15's from going up. GM is here to make money. Look for about 2%. Just my opinion of course.

Yes. They asked for a $2,500 refundable deposit. I had called another dealer in Springfield, Mo and they wanted a !,000 refundable deposit but I elected to put down a larger deposit since that particular dealership has a much larger allocation and I will be after a Z51 car with some of the current carbon fiber constraints.

Had the increase been mid-year I would be inclined to agree with you. However, another price increase only 3 months after a fairly hard hit seems like it may be pushing the "greed factor" just a little too fast even for GM.

Thanks. One other thing: did they give you any proof that you hold that position? After all the allocation horror stories I've read here, I'd like my dealer to give me some reassurance.

I felt exactly the same way and they provided me a letter stating my position. However, how do you REALLY know if the RIGHT person is not being bumped in front of you. I just know that I will be placing my order on day one and asking for a copy of my accepted order from GM so I know exactly where I may stand.

On the "Ken's Newsletters" sub-forum, Ken Fichtner posted this in reference to the plant switchover and '15 ordering

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1586446820-post5.html

Given previous history with both C6's and the first year of C7's, I would expect a 2-6 week initial production QC hold at the plant (it was 4 weeks on my '13, built during the first week of production for the '13 model year.)

How quickly everyone forgets about 1980 when there were four base price increases that year from $13,140 to $14,345, over 9%
