i just saw an advertisement for a "performance chip", which claimed to significantly boost horsepower, as well a improve gas mileage--for $69. anyone have any experience or knowledge of these? id not heard of them before.
I'm surprised one is available already for the C7...but maybe I shouldn't be. I'd be prepared to void your warranty. If that's not an issue for you, consider a hands on "tune" by a pro, as opposed to chip.
You need to get a J.C, Whitney catalog. For a hundred dollars they will double your horse power, torque, gas mileage, and for another fifty, they will sell you a set of seat covers so that you can cover up those trashy leather seats, (and they might even throw in a CD player.)
You would be much better off spending maybe $500 on a custom tune. A good tuner can tweek maybe 10 20 poines out of your car as is without taking the car to the ragged edge.
If you can't find anyone in your town..there are a lot of national shows where tuners car tweet your car right there.
It's just programming and not that difficult IF you know what you are doing.

LOl...I remember getting the JC Whitney catalog as a kid. Everything they sell gives you more HP, mileage etc.
These "performance chips" are crap....everyone knows the real deal is having a pair of these stickers on your side windows and less expensive than $69. You'll be the hit cruising thru your high school alma mater parking lot next reunion then.
Not only a warranty void but the look on the person's face who installs one and can't pass his next emissions check-priceless

I used to have an Infinity G35 and was on their forums for awhile and there were legitmate chips out there for the G35 and they ran around $300 or so. There is no chip out there for a late model Corvette and if there was one, it would go for much more than $69.
However if this was truly a "performance chip", I would take it down to AC, play blackjack and see if I could get 21 everytime I used it.
the "chip" in the factory ECM is soldered in; no longer in a socket. There's no replacing it - like in years past; just reprogramming it through the OBD2 (or whatever it's being called these days).
