CSX Tracking

How does one go about obtaining the rail car number for the purposes of tracking progress with CSX?

You can try the chevy.com chat, but many won't give up the number. Be prepared to hit the chat multiple times and ask many different people there.

The sure way to get it is to ask your salesperson.

I got mine originally from the chevy.com chat, but it took a bunch of attempts. I suggest typing the whole "Hi, my name is XXXXX and my order number is XXXX and I was hoping you could help me get an update on my order." speech into a text editor and using copy/paste.

You'll need to repeat that a few times.

Try calling CSX at 734-753-6100 and provide the last 8 numbers of your VIN. They can provide details on your shipment.

FYI I did that a few days ago and the very nice lady told me that they can only see whether the vehicle has arrived at the New Boston, MI rail yard and whether or not it has shipped out.

For me it was only 2 weeks and 2 days from when it was bayed at the plant and waiting for a truck to the train yard until it was ready for delivery.

Not bad really with all things considered, and since I waited out the constraints and got the items I wanted (Comp Seats, Exposed Roof, Z51, FAY) and that took 2 months I didn't mind.
