Default 9500ix Escort

Anyone hard wire an Escort 9500ix into a new C7?

How to?

I am kind of waiting til Blendmount gets a mount done but want to scope out the wiring

There are several threads on this. Do a search.

I bought a Valentine One Savvy module that plugs into the OBD port and ran my Escort 9500 to it in the driver's footwell. Many others have ran it back to the rear fuse box or tapped into the cig lighter on the console. There is no accessible power connector in the rear view mirror like the C6

The Savvy module works with the Escort? How do you set it up to work?

Yep sure does. I researched it on the web before I bought it and many people said it worked. So I tried it and indeed it does

Haven't hard wired mine but I did get a great mount that was inexpensive from a Vette nut that happens to own a trophy shop and he makes radar detector mount for Vettes, about $45.00 with shipping

It's from Great Lakes Trophies, it works great, right now I have my 9500ix mounted on this mount and plugged in the the CLA but he also sent me directions to hard wire, I gotta find that email...

Is this the module and what cable would I use to connect?

So you can keep your attention where it belongs, SAVVY turns down the volume of V1’s alerts automatically at low speeds. SAVVY has just one control, a thumb wheel to set a speed threshold. Below your set point, the audio comes through on V1’s Muted Volume (set this with V1’s Control Lever). Above the threshold you hear the normal loudness you’ve set with the V1’s Control ****.

SAVVY stays nearly out of sight down near your steering column where it serves as V1’s power source. It replaces the Lighter Adapter or, in “hiddenwire” installations, the Direct-wire Power Adapter. Just plug SAVVY into the OBD diagnostic port, standard on every new car and light truck built since January 1, 1996. Then plug V1’s power cord into one of two RJ-11 jacks (the other works with the Concealed Display or other V1 accessories). The thumbwheel has eight setting between 15 and 65 mph. Choose one, or select AUTO, which mutes all alerts, or choose NONE to eliminate automatic muting.

SAVVY is ideal for those who want to hide V1’s power cord. Two wire clips and a beaded tie strap are included to secure the power cord to V1. SAAVY fits in the palm of your hand and weights just 2.2 ounces. Black only.

That's the one. You would need a cable similar to this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Cord-For-Valentine-One-1-V1-Radar-Laser-Detector-Straight-Extension-Cable-/350999366181?pt=US_Surveillance_Cables_Adapters_Connectors&hash=item51b9314a25
The only quirk with this setup is that your radar detector powers up when you open the door, not when you start the car. The OBD port must power up when the dome lights come on when you open the door. Also, it stays on for a couple minutes after you lock the car due to the OBD port still being powered. Not a big deal for me just a little different than ignition switched power. This setup was more desirable to me that taking the console apart or running all the way to the trunk.

Make sure you wire in the power cord THE AMAZING "ESCORT LIVE"!

Really really adds to the unit! I see now where it actually POINTS
to where the cops are. On the display. It shows if they are right left
or behind and how many feet away on LIVE COP.

Why can't you tap into the rear view mirror for a power source as in the C6?

Because there's no exposed connector on the C7 mirror as there is on the C6

AFWIW..... I installed a 9500ix in my C7, took power from one of the accessory (cig lighter) sockets in the center console and it was ultra easy (whole job - including routing the power cable - took less than 30 minutes)

Did you just disassemble the dash and splice into the cig lighter wires? If so, can you point to instructions on how to remove the required trim pieces? If I can get access, I can wire it pretty easily. Did you use the smart cord or just the straight power cord? I'm trying to decide where I'd put the smart cord "box"

I tried to wire into the mirror connector. I pulled the header trim and got to the connector. Had to pull off the mirror and concluded it was not a good place to tap into power. The connector faces up and very tight. I tapped into the OBDII connector.

Would appreciate pictures. Am i correct that the mount is held in place with tape? I tried multiple types of type tape on a different mount and it did not work. I am hoping that your solution is the answer.
