I just plasti dipped mine and am very happy with it.
I had a can of plasti dip here too but that stuff is hard to clean the bugs off in the summer…good stuff though tried it on my SS camaro I owned. I got a way better consistent finished look with the Vinyl wrap… cheers!

Amazon has 2 versions of this Wraptech. #29211 has a carbon fibre look to it and #29202 is flat black like the OP….I am on the fence….leaning towards the OP
GM should absolutely make a blacked out retainer ring a low or no cost option available in 2015. You notice that the 2015 Z06, does not have a retainer ring. Good move, IMHO. Much better "look".

I went with the Matte Vinyl kinda flat i guess… cheers!
In the Grand scheme of things, you can use practically any method to get it black: plastidip, diff types of vinyl and paint. Don't get hung up on what you choose. Because once it's blacked out, nobody looks there but you, it becomes a very muted display element on the car.
