Here is another good solution:
The stock carpeting in the cargo area works as the loop side of Velcro. So I keep a medium size plastic storage bin (car color matching of coarse) in there with a few strips of the Hook Side Velcro on the bottom and I can place it anywhere in the cargo area directly onto the carpet and it stays where ever I put it. It works great and I've been doing this for years.
I use the same trick inside the car to stick my company badge in the car down in front of my seat along the carpeted side so I always have my badge with me when I go to work.
Velcro is great stuff but always only buy the Industrial Grade. It's only about a dollar more and it is way better.

Did mine today and did a grocery store run, works great. I dont have an add-on mat so I was able to tuck the liner under the stock carpet and side trim panels. It doesnt move even with the roof off, I used two rolls (10.00).
