I was driving today and stopped at a light on a hill. Light went green
I allowed the car to go back a few inches. Then I started forward and the car died. WTF! The ebrake was on.
So I guess it has a hill holder nanny! How do I turn it off!
That sucks! Rant off!
Hard to believe! They added this for the NON stick driver's!
The hill assist does not use the ebrake, but it does take a little getting used to. Now that I'm used to it, I really like it. It engages every time I pull into my steep driveway.
I'm wondering how you accomplished this since the hill holder should have prevented it. And the hill holder does not engage the ebrake so you did something out of the ordinary to cause the situation OR your car has gremlins. It's certainly not by design.
Just unreal they add a another DUMB nanny! A hill holder is for idiots that can't drive a regular stick!
Unless it's on a hill in your C7!!

I'm pretty sure it uses the ebrake, how else would it hold?
I rarely if ever even notice hill assist even when I am on a steep grade. It's a non issue for me but a bit more clutch and a bit more gas is all it takes to overcome it. I'm pretty efficient with the clutch so even without hill assist in my C6, I never rolled backwards on a hill. In my C7, the only time I can even detect the hill assist is when I am being slow and lazy with my clutch and gas peddle which isn't very often.

I agree a little getting used too. But lining up for your garage with a steep driveway it's really nice.

Pretty sure its just the cars regular brakes not ebrake. My ebrake is very audible when it engages. The cars computer has control over braking and simply momentarily engages the brakes on a hill. Its a slight annoyance for most experienced drivers but can be beneficial for those new to driving stick.
I did notice one time that the ebrake automatically disengages if you attempt to drive off with it still on. Pretty cool I guess, still getting used to not having a proper handle and having to put my foot on the brake to disengage it.

Good point, I don't hear anything!

I agree, it works really well. Then again my driving habit is when I'm on a hill I blimp the throttle instead of slowly slipping the clutch. I think the blimp "tells" the car to release the brakes.
My 2013 Camaro has it, been driving manuals for 30 years and got used to it quickly. For the Camaro, there is a solution, you remove the black box under the console that has the yaw sensor in it and replace it with one from an automatic, hill holder is gone. Don't know if that will work for the Corvette or not.

It only activates in certain scenarios in my experience with them in other vehicles.
I think clutch in foot on brake car in gear release brake and it wont roll back..
if you are in neutral off brake car is rolling back you go into 1st and take off the car is rolling back still while you are taking off because you did not apply the brake which activates the hill assist.
assuming the c7 is setup like the porsche and m3 were

I was thinking of pull the ebrake fuse! I'll check your idea! Thanks GM should have just left it alone.

Got it - I was just yanking your chain. You will get used to it over time. It seemed pretty intrusive to me initially and now I don't notice it. It only holds for a few seconds and then releases - I've learned to just kind of drive "over it" and things seem fine. I was pseudo-crucified in a thread a few weeks ago when I provided my opinion that people that need this / hand brake to hold the car on a hill really should polish up their manual transmission driving skills (I still hold that opinion). The combination of the clutch and low end torque of this car make it about the easiest / smoothest manual transmission car I have ever driven. Cars that need RPM to make torque are MUCH more difficult to drive with a manual (over-rev vs stalling vs looking like a fool!).
