I consider my Z51 coupe to be VERY quiet compared to other cars and Corvettes that I've owned. There are certain roads like the concrete ones that are noisy in any car but as cars go, the C7 is very quiet in my opinion. It's undoubtedly quieter than both my previous C6's, much quieter than my Mini Cooper, about as quiet as my 07 Yukon XL 2500 and nearly as quiet as my wifes 2013 BMW X3 except for the exhaust sounds.
The type of road surface makes a big difference. Grooved concrete is the absolute worst. My C7 coupe is much quieter than my C6 was and my C6 was much quieter than my C5 was. Also, the Michelins are quieter than the Goodyears on any model. The C7 is unquestionably quieter than all that came before it. But it is a sportscar, not a Cadillac or Lexus.
My C7 coupe is about 100 times more quiet than my C5 Convertible at this point.
I think the Michelins are part of the story, but they are brand new so time will tell. The Goodyear run flats got louder as they got used up, and between tire noise and convertible top noise the C5 was pretty loud.
I am pretty impressed with the NPP noise, much better than road & tire noise.
The C7 seems quieter than either of my C6's (08 coupe, 10 gs vert), but I wouldn't go as far as say it's quiet. When I drive over some sand I can hear every grain hitting the wheel well shroud, but I don't really care. It's a sports car. If I want quiet I'll drive my 550, but I think I'll drive the vette again tomorrow...
As compared to my C5 Z06, it's pretty quiet. Though, my C5Z was quiet too.
In tour mode with engine management on "auto", the car is very quiet for a sports car. There's some road noise. There's very little wind noise at all, surprisingly. Less than even my mother's Infiniti M35!
The only thing that makes a bit of noise is the dry sump. I can hear the oil moving through the lines. Sounds like a whirling. Doesn't really bother me anymore now that I know what it is.
I drive with sound management off now... Too boring otherwise.
