Performance Data Recorder = liability alert? Or non-issue?
Is anyone else thinking about ordering the PDR on a 2015, but concerned that the data could also work against the driver in an accident investigation? Or is there typically more than enough evidence of driving speeds and other data available to investigators that this is a non-issue? I also wonder whether the PDR could be useful as a forward-mounted camera just to record general idiocy by other drivers who are more of a danger to me than my driving habits. Anyway, I'm curious to know how others considering the PDR are weighing these possibilities.
Is there data logging in "the cloud" somewhere? I was under the impression that the data would be solely stored on a removable storage device (e.g., smart drive).
By the way, I had to unhide your reply, as I'm only here for all things Corvette-related not political messages. Your new avatar and off-topic comment about petitions, did not disappoint!

Doesn't need to be in "the cloud" in order to be accessible - your insurance company would have access in the case of an accident (and probably the police). You do know that MANY new cars already have "black boxes" installed, yes? Probably accessible via OBD connector.

Maybe you can point to a political message I've made in this section? Oh right, you can't. I'm sorry if I harsh your mellow, man.......
Many people are acquiring mobile cameras. It seems that it helps more than hurts. It's also good fodder for youtube. Have you seen the vids from Russia? Just FYI.
Not really sure if what you record can be monitored by others over the internet. It would worry me if that were the case. And especially if Chevy will not mention that or if they in fact lie about the issue.

Just the accidental one from the other day. While I enjoy your posts I detest your avatar and poitical attitude...But hey, there's a lot of those types here I've noticed..
Back on topic...There's a lot of Paranoia here to. Not doing anything wrong/illegal? Not to worry. I haven't seen where that system will function as a dashcam..Those are readily available though from $50 up..

Every new car for several years - including the C6 - has a data recorder in it.
But they only record the last 30 or so seconds (depends on manufacturer). Useful for crash analysis. If I'm not mistaken, to get access to it you need a court order (unless it's your car of course).

Cheers.
The manual has a paragraph about this. See paragraph 13-14.
Only records about 30 seconds in a non-trivial crash. Can be read by manufacture and law enforcement with special equipment.
Records how various systems in the vehicle were operating, seat belts, gas an brake pedal position, and speed.

Like anything it can be a double edged sword. May save your *** on someone backing up into you, or going into your lane (resulting in you going off the road to avoid) but if you're doing something on public roads you shouldn't be then it absolutely will be used against you.
PS I detest that you detest a simple avatar. Sometimes Obama supporters forget that they may have to face differing opinions to their own So disturbing I know...Fear not, he's working to get rid of that...
