Need a Nav experiment assistant!
I've attached a new file with some NJ,MA,IN,NC pois to see what happens. Seems like there is a limit as to what is loaded based on your distance from the POI (preliminary conclusion, at this point). Still hoping for a person to talk to in the Infotainment Tech Group.
Other testers welcome, like a FL or CA tester.....
Ed
On the new set of locations, the only one that displays is Cape Hatteras, 187 mi from my location. I no longer get the Washington Monument nor the Biltmore House in Asheville.
For grins, I resorted the records and saved it as a new filename/grouping. Same results... Only the single destination loaded for Cape Hatteras.
I'm stumped.
Checked to see if the file is still on the sandisc with the computer and it is still there.
System will read the file on the sandisc but will not read it from the USB stick.
Go figure!!!
Screen ask to download; yes
Did not ask catagory question
I now have two "pins" on the POI but nowhere can I find MyPOIs listed or any of the locations that were in your file.
So file is loaded be can't be found or deleted.
Apparently NAV doesn't think I would want to go to the musuem from Brea, Ca........ LOL
I'm intrigued by the fact that POIs that did load, don't load if others are added. The long distance ones might make sense, but some of the closer ones should load. Sorting order might be a problem but that doesn't appear to be it either.
I haven't tried from SD card, so I can't comment on those issues yet.
It IS strange that I can load and delete my original test set of 10 or 12 local CT POIS over and over with no problems.
As far as CA test, there were no CA pois listed so I expected that to fail. I'm assuming the two POI pins you are seeing are the two in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
I'm back to the drawing board for a while.
Probably will generate another test file in a day or two. I'll include a CA POI or two.
I'm really hoping that Chevy CS can get me in touch with a person closer to the software design. A little insight would be very helpful!
Thanks all,
Ed

My POIs option is greyed out on the screen, don't know what that is about.
I have just created the new file and added it to my USB drive and headed out to the car to try again.
This NAV is not so user friendly to me, but I guess that is because I am used to a simple GARMIN Unit.
Why can't I save locations to favorites or POIs?? It has to be a contact with a first or last name? Maybe I need those missing manual pages mentioned earlier.
I am still trying!

Wish I had a C7 to play with this, but waiting for '15 as I was really interested in the PDR.
Anyway, I was looking at your text file and you probably tried these suggestions but just figured I would add (sooooo jealous of everyone playing with their C7s):
1. Change the end of line characters to be more unix friendly (i.e. only including carriage returns only) instead of windows friendly (i.e. including CRs and line feeds). Using a program like notepad++ take a look at the non-printable characters.
2. For some of the POIs you only have three comma delimited fields. What if you included the additional commas in case the system is not parsing them correctly for what ever reason.
cheers,
Rich

The manual pages that are missing begin at page 75 if you follow this link to the Cadillac Infotainment manual
http://www.cadillac.com/content/dam/...Cue_Manual.pdf
Just for the record, the file format is wrong in the above cited manual, as described earlier in this thread.
I will continue to experiment... More tests to follow soon!
Thanks,
Ed

I'll look into it as you suggest.
What's strange is that my file of all CT based POIs seems to load OK in the same format I've used for the test files.
Thanks, hope your '15 is on its way soon!
Ed
Louies added
Modern Pizza added (against my better judgement)

Your approximate location would be helpful!
Everyone else,
I added some more POIs to the file. A new one in NC, and in IN, and some in CT,RI,MA... it's attached.
Continued experimentation seems to indicate that only locations within 100 miles (as the crow flies) of my location will load. Funny because, when I pick one that did load, it's actually 123 miles away on the road. Non-CT pois load (MA,RI,NJ), as long as they are within 100 miles
Hmmmmmm......
Still hoping for contact with a real software guy in GM at some point!
Richelu, format seems OK with some fields missing, CR+LF seems OK.
Thanks,
Ed
As directed by a Chevy Customer Service rep here on the forum, I met with my dealer's service manager. Seems like in order to make any forward progress, my dealer needs to initiate a request for help to his district rep who moves it up the line....I hope.
I have done my best to make the exact problem known and I'm hoping that
1) someone actually contacts me to discuss the issues, and
2) a fix is set up for 2014 Vettes, not just rolled in as an improvement for the 2015s
We will see...
Ed
1) all your files begin with a space (delete it) and 2) try setting to the same number of fields ie:
-72.917031, 41.302885, "Pepe's Pizza New Haven","",""
-73.985833, 40.748417, "Empire State Building", "New York", "111-222-3333"
-72.701228, 41.767401, "Mark Twain House", "351 Farmington Avenue Hartford CT 06105", "860-247-0999"
-77.035462, 38.892068, "Washington Monument","",""
-86.361376, 37.008993, "Corvette Assembly Plant","",""

I appreciate the input!

Your suggestions make sense, but...The files I've tested don't seem to care about the initial space (the file I get the POIS from has them) or the number of fields as long as there's a carriage return at the end of each set of data. strange, I know

Everyone who has tried my test files has gotten a POI to load. The problem is that in ALL test results so far, only the POIs that are closest to the location of the tester will load. There appears to be a "nearby filter" in place. 100 miles or less seems to be the criteria for what loads and what doesn't.
but, sometimes, farther POIs load!On May 1, I followed the directions given to me by Customer Service. (see above). No response yet. I may send a few emails tomorrow to see what's going on.
Coming from a 2011 Dodge Charger that had a flawless, visually spectacular Infotainment system (Panasonic/Garmin), this system (QNX) is a real disappointment! I had ALL MY POI's loaded in 5 minutes without opening the manual on the Dodge!
Stay tuned,
Hope the Vette shows up early!
Ed
Pat from IN. here. The POIs that loaded for me were just two. The "Lucas Oil Stadium" and "the Corvette Museum"
Lucas oil stadium is only about 25 miles from me but the Corvette Museum is closer to 250 miles from here.
Just checked the map and it is 239 miles.
So much for the 100 mile limit. Maybe it's the "100 mile or two closest" limit!
I'm having a similar issue with videos. I put 15 videos on a stick and only 2 show up in the menu. All are formatted the same way, but the car doesn't "see" them, except for two (not the first two, just a random two)

Weather is getting nice here, finally time to get in 'de Vette and GO!
Enjoy,
Ed
