Default Shift Lights

With the car in sport or touring mode and the track screen up on the HUD I occasionally see the shift lights come on, but it seems to be very intermittent. Anybody know how they are supposed to function.

If you accelerate quickly enough and high enough they go from green to yellow, and I assume red, but I have not pushed it that far. They also show up on the instrument cluster in the track mode. It's a tool to help you maximize your acceleration without reaching the rev limiter.

So if you accelerate slowly they will not activate? That would explain why sometimes I see them,
sometimes not. Could not find an explanation in the manual. Just that they exist.

Well, no. If you accelerate slowly and you don't shift, they will light, but that didn't seem a likely scenario (at least w/o you doing it deliberately). Normally, high rpms aren't sustained at a slow acceleration w/o shifting, so you likely only saw this when going fast at a quick pace, if that makes sense. Other times, you weren't pushing it and shifted before they came on. I should have been more precise.

I'm pretty sure I have seen scenarios where I am accelerating rather quickly and shifting near redline and they do not come on at all??? Software error???

They will also show up if you downshift aggressively.

If that's the case, test it out and if they aren't working, take it back in and show them. Warranty!

Thanks for the help, I'll do a little more testing.

They activate at lower rpm when the engine is not yet up to operating temperature. This corresponds to the lowering of redline when the engine is cold.

That makes sense as I usually see them when I first start out from
home when engine is cold. Not broke in yet so I'm not going into higher revs. Thanks

"shift lights"? What am I missing?

I have noticed that from time to time the tach outline on the HUD seems to change from white to a reddish tint?
