Picked up car today, while showing car to friend, car running, standing outside, reached in and shut off car. Engine stopped, but power stayed on, reached in to shut down, and power stayed on, got into car and tried to start, but would not start and could not turn power off, dash and radio stayed on. Contacted dealer, they did the same thing to a car at the dealership, same thing happen, car would not start. while talking to dealer, power turned off, and was able start car. Has anyone had this happen or know why? Thanks for any input, I have a lot to learn about this car, but it is awesome.
My guess, the Proximity system got confused if you weren't fully inside the car when you turned it off. The car probably had to cycle through the shutoff timeout to reset itself. One car I had with keyless start got really upset when I would walk away from it while it was running. Once, when my wife shut the car off while I was in a 7-11 it acted similar when I got back in and tried to restart it.
Did you walk away with the transmitter in you pocket ???? So I can leave the car running only with the transmitter in the car and if my wife goes with me she stays in the car !! Because I need to pick up my steel 1/4 " X 12" X 3' ramp strips in my driveway when I back down my car to the street !!! If by myself I don't leave my car running I turn it off pick up the ramps then drive away !!! Wayne

I would guess it is something like that as well ! If it happens again I would arm the car walk completely far away from it and return to it and see if that solves the problem.
If the car is running, you have to put your foot on the brake and if A6, have it in park to properly shut it down (while sitting in the drivers seat). Reaching in and hitting the button was out of sequence. Even tho it's natural to just want to drive and show it off on the 1st day, it's less embarrassing if you spend some time in the manual 1st and learn how it's programmed to work. Just sayin ...
