The camera however does leave something to be desired.
m8 is a wonderful unit.

I have an older iPod touch that I have hooked into the USB behind the screen in the secret compartment...I have access to everything playlist, searching etc all from the console and even just say "play jumping jack flash" and it goes right to the song....I'd imagine the iPhone does the same I just wanted something in the car at all times...unless I can get this viewing texts thing to work...

Sounds like the key is plugging in vs using Bluetooth. SJ

One thing I have noticed is that certain CPU and data-heavy apps, the standard 500ma USB is not enough to keep up and the battery is actually depleted even when the phone is plugged in to the USB port. Charging from the 12v cigarette lighter style plug can supply more current to the phone than the built-in USB plug and the right charger can charge the phone faster and/or keep up with power-hungry apps.

Also I have a ton of MP3 music, if I switch to Apple am I going to purchase itune versions??

Any info will be greatly appreciated
Just remember Apple phones have special apple files that you would have to convert if you took some other source and tried to load it on your phone to be be played later from cellphone to car !!! One of the few companies I know come that has a conversion program comes from NCH company !!! Example: wav or mp3 files from computer ,cd player etc---the apple phone !!! I had to do this to convert cd's---computer---itunes ( none apple computer )---nano Ipod !!! Wayne
