Kirbsc, I'm in Central Illinois and apparently, St. Louis is the closest location to me for Xpel installation. Were you happy with the job they did? I would only be looking to cover the more vulnerable areas of the car. Thanks.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I went to Clear Auto Bra http://clearautobra.com/, Mark is the owner and he does a fabulous job. You can tell him that Kirby recommended him .
I know Xpel Ultimate is supposed to be better, but my situation is a bit different. I want to get the front and mirrors covered soon. Lots of places here apply 3M, but the closest I've found that will apply Xpel is Denver, a 500+ mile round trip.
Is Xpel that much better than 3M that it's worth time off from work and a 500 mile drive?
Steve,
We sent you a PM and found an installer in your area.
For those that had Xpel installed, did your installer use the Xpel kits or cut it themselves from a roll?
My installer has a van that is set up with a computer and all his equipment is right there. Everything is computer cut. One of the things I liked about him he came to my house to do the installation.
Anybody have any comments on SunTek paint protection? Is it made by 3M?
We highly recommend it and have installed it since it came out. It is not made by 3M... in fact Suntek is one of the few companies that makes their own film. Most other really on a third party to produce it. Xpel Ultimate is also a great film.... both are in a different class than 3M (which I would not touch).
Totally custom fitted. That's the only way to make sure the edges are rolled over the edge of what's being covered. For example, the hood.
The kits don't allow that
Simply not true. I use both Suntek and Xpel's cutting software and both not only allow it but have a function that automatically adds wrapped edges onto the pattern.

Who in the Dallas Tx area would you suggest installing suntek or xpel?
Anyone know where I can get xpel installed in Charlotte NC?
I just had my crystal red done at expel of the Triad they did a perfect job, they are located in Winston Salem, 336 414 3390, I had the whole fron end done plus the mirrors and rockers, they are rated on the Expel website as very experienced. It would be wqell worth the short trip.

An installer local to me says he "uses the Xpel templates and modifies them to create a wrapped fit". I guess that means similar to you, he has software that contains the Xpel templates that he "expands". I'll have to stop by the shop and ask a bunch of questions.
