I think it's been asked before, but not recently. Does anyone know where to rent a 2014 Corvette in the
San Francisco area? I've looked online and there are lots of places renting exotic cars but they don't have the Corvette. No problem renting a Ferarri or Lamborghini. I'm trying to decide whether to trade my 2012 Mercedes SLK 350 hardtop convertible for a Corvette and hate to make a decision without driving the car. I got a 10 minute test drive from a local dealer but would like to have a little more time and none of the other dealers will allow any kind of test drive.
I think if you get a rental, it's not going to tell you much more anyway than a 10 minute drive.
It's probably going to be bone stock -- auto, non-z51, non convertible, 1 LT minimal options with no GPS. If that's what you want in the real car, then fine. But the driving characteristics are different with the different cars over a longer period of time.
Second, it's a rental. It's probably a bit beat up from others abusing it.
If 10 minutes doesn't satisfy you that you really want this car and can live with it, a weekend isn't going to add much to that equation.
Check with your local Hertz places as they have C7 rentals. Avis might as well. I'd bet they'd have them at SFO if nowhere else. Regardless of options I think a weekend or multiday rental would be much more valuable than a 10 minute test drive.

I rented C6's from Hertz at SFO. I am not sure about C7's...
Thanks for the suggestions. I've already Googled Corvette rentals and every other possible search term I can think of. Also tried Hertz and Avis and called several exotic car rental places. So far, I've struck out. If anyone knows of a place or has other ideas, I would appreciate it.

Try asking over in the Northern Calif Regional Forum. Someone might have a local idea for you.
Check the airport rental lots. I was in Charlotte last week dropping off my Mini Countryman rental (hey, it was better than a Camry!)..and Avis had a brand spankin C7 coupe sitting there…. I seriously considered changing my flight…..

I disagree with this. I rented a C6 for a day, and was able to drive it in all kinds of road conditions, including winding back roads. I came away extremely impressed. I couldn't believe how competent the car was, and I own a C5. The car would not have nearly impressed me as much with a 10 minute drive around the car lot.
I agree you best bet are the car rental companies. Hertz has their "Adrenalin Edition" cars, including the Corvette at the airports. You can also order in a car at the Hertz Local Editions, but they will need advance notice.
Fly to Phoenix and Rick at Rent a Vette will pick you up. I put 200 smiles on a convertible recently. Head out east to Tortilla Flats (a very winding-twisty road)

I totally agree with Sin City. If I had test drove this car first, I wouldn't have haggled as much on price. The first 10 minutes and every minute since have been mind blowing.
I also. Agree with Sin City though, I would advise a 10 minute NPP, magnetic ride z51 ride over a bone stock rental car.
