Default Ordering Process

Can someone explain the ordering process in detail.

I ordered a vett on monday but haven't recieved a tracking code yet, and oddly after recieving my deposit and ordering my car the dealer is less responive.
When do I sign paperwork and pay ? Is it when the car starts getting built or when its delivered ?

Normally you pay upon delivery.

Glen has linked you to a good explanation of allocation as a part of ordering and if you are interested that is a good foundation.

Any dealer can enter your order and give you the six character order number before you leave but usually you have to insist. Some will print out the OrderWorkbench before you leave or email it to you and some will not.

Once the order is entered allocation comes into play.

Well, I've read that thread before. I ordered from a forum dealer, so I'm not worried about allocation. My question was more leaning towards, dealer papers and when they want money. I ordered from the out of state dealer so I'm doing everything over the phone or email. I wired the deposit on Monday and he hasn't given me a reciept for my deposit or a tracking number for the workbench ( since they supposedly get the number very soon ). Is this normal for a forum dealer ? Or am I just to anxious ?

My guess, just anxious.

Every dealer (suspect Forum dealers included) do the Order # differently. There is no one answer.

But as I said, payment is made when the vehicle is delivered to the customer. That and Proof of Insurance and you are good to go. After you have signed a dozen or more pieces of paper, been shown how to open/close the doors etc. and been signed up for OnStar; just do not give OnStar a credit card number and you will be OK.

What about the money I wired to their account. I presume I would get a reciept. Shouldn't I ?

Seems to me you should be asking these questions of your dealer. That is the only you're going to get an accurate answer.....

Agree w/ Ken but you do have a record of your wire transfer, so absent all else that would do.
