Default Different screen issue

I've taken the car to the dealer before for the screen going dead (the fix was a reset of the logic unit)

A month later, the screen is going blank when closed and turns on as its about 2" from being fully open.

When closed, the plastic buttons all work as well as the buttons on the steering wheel and voice commands. If I touch the screen, I hear the beeps but nothing happens.

I've tried turning off the car and letting it sit for an hour, raising and lowering the screen several times, etc.

According to Chevy Customer Service, there's no indexing features for the screen.

Car built 2/19
3960 miles
VIN 15745

Here's a guess....

It looked to me like there is a flat ribbon cable (like they use to attach a hinged screen to a laptop) that push/slides into a connector that feeds the signal to the screen. The flat cable looks like it rolls up and down to provide "slack" to the display so it can move from open to closed.

If that cable was a little loose where it "plugs into" the electronics, it might do what you describe, kind of a "works in one position but not in the other" scenario.

I noticed the flat cable while I was looking at pics of the dash removed and I wondered about that connection.

Also to the left of the pink box, there are other wires that might do it... maybe even a microswitch that turns the display on and off that's being interfered with as the screen moves.

If the dealer had the dash off for a previous fix, I'd be even more interested in having them check these connections. You're getting me nervous! I thought most of the screen stuff was corrected - my car was built a few weeks before yours! Looking forward to seeing you soon somewhere in CT...

Hope this helps!
Ed

I'm not sure I am understanding your issue. Are you saying that the screen opens and closes properly but the display is goes black when you lower it and turns on once the screen is almost completely back up? If so, that is normal. I just went out and checked my car. The screen turns off when I lower it and turns back up once it's back up. If your screen is not coming all the way back up then you have an issue.

Mine is at the dealer right now for the screen getting stuck in down position.

I think it's the opposite, Dan is saying that it goes on as it is going down (open) and goes off on the way up (closed)

I'm sticking with my "ribbon cable theory"
