So I have 1200 miles and scheduled my first service for today. I told them to change the oil, check the rear differential fluid and do a wheel alignment. Now mind you I cancelled from this dealer after waiting 4 months with no allocation, but they are close and they told me they would service the car.
I purchased from MacMulkin in NH I'm in Jersey. So after waiting about an hour they told me my car was finished. The manager said the rear fluid was fine and they changed the oil but could not do a wheel alignment because they didn't have the right equipment.
does this sound right that a chevy dealer would not have the equipment to service one of their cars? Feedback please

Why would you need a wheel alignment with only 1200 miles on the car ????? Wayne

Reason: put in additional info
Special equipment? I doubt it... any good laser alignment machine and a rack is all you need. It's not magic to adjust caster/camber/toe.
Most dealerships around here use the local tire stores for that kind of service. Tire and alignment shops are on every other corner around here and the typical dealership just can't compete with them. How many people actually think to do an alignment under warranty let alone bring their car to a dealership for out of warranty alignment? Not many I'd surmise. Due to the low volume usage of the alignment equipment, in my book, that would qualify as somewhat specialized equipment for most dealers. In house tire changes and alignments are just not typical in my experience for most dealerships.
I suppose in certain areas where tire and alignment stores are far and few, this may be a more common practice for a dealership but around here, I don't think it is unless they are a very large dealership.
Most will tell you to do an alignment very 6k miles or once a year so I will wait until my 2nd oil change to do it !!! Wayne
I had my dealer check the alignment before I took delivery.
I drove my last Z06 1,000 miles to let the suspension settle in, and already had significant inside tire wear.
Some come from GM within specs, and some are way off.
Also, if you want it aligned for best tire wear and street driving, you have to tell them what you want... It can be within factory specs, and still be too aggressive for acceptable tire wear.
"2014 Corvette Rear Caster Angle Gauge
September 5, 2013
As part of a rear wheel alignment on the 2014 Corvette Stingray, the rear wheel caster must be set. This requires a Digital Angle Gauge and an adapter to attach the gauge to the rear knuckles. The gauge must be capable of accurately measuring to 0.1 degree. It must also have a calibration feature and a magnetic base so it will attach to the adapter.
Digital Angle Gauge
The Digital Angle Gauge is not an essential tool as there are several suppliers available in the aftermarket.
Tool suppliers that offer the gauge include:
• SPX; order tool number CH-47960, Digital Angle Gauge, directly from SPX
• Wixey WR300; contact support@wixey.com
• iGauging AngleCube; contact info@iGaging.com, or 1-949-366-5708
Digital Angle Gauge Adapter
The Digital Angle Gauge Adapter, CH-47960-10, is not available on the aftermarket and will be part of the essential tool package."
