First time Vette owner. First time sports-car owner. I love this car (3LT black/black). The attention is almost embarrassing. That's to the upside! The downside.... is how many other drivers magically slow down to block me or try to trap me in traffic.... Never experienced that before. Am I imagining this?

With 200,000+ Corvette miles behind me I agree with you this happens. Fortunately with a Corvette you can easily dispatch them first opportunity. You will get good at this!
I have had other new Corvettes too and although the C7 is an advanced and desirable car to the public, so were all of the others in their own time. The 1984 as an example, was a jet fighter for the street and attracted huge crowds of lookers everywhere. And you had to take the time to be a kind of public relations expert to all of them. It's our duty to share our feelings and explain the C7.
I have actually found the opposite...tailgaters big time. People seem to want to get so close so they can get a better look at it.
This was scary, one day a couple weeks ago a pickup so close to me I could not see his lower bumper...I pull ahead and its a kid with an iPhone in both hands on top of his steering wheel taking my pic

It's mostly tailgaters in Florida too, regardless of what they're driving if you or they have kids in the car. They don't care. They tailgate the hell out of you and never seem to want to pass. Even if you take off to get away from them, there's some soccer mom in a minivan going 40mph more than you to see how close she can slipstream off your bumper.
I have noticed people come up from behind, apparently to get a good look. They follow for a ways then back off. Of course if they follow too close or for too long, I leave them behind.
I see tailgaters as the biggest problem with this car. When coming to a red light, I now leave a very good distance between me and the car in front, just in case these idiots don't stop in time.
Leaving the car alone is another problem, too many stopping and taking a closer look.
The worse of all types is the jealous ones who will key your car in the parking lot. Although I have been lucky enough this has not happened to me, several of my Corvette friends have had this happen. The other type is the guy with the pickup truck with big wheels that gets in front of you then goes off the road to through up debris, what out for that, that has happened to people on this forum.
Regardless, congrads on your first Corvette, and enjoy every minute of driving. You will find most people love to look and wish, after all there are two types of people in the world, those who own Corvettes and those who wish they did..... Safe Motoring.
In Atlanta you can count on it everything from spiting on your car at lights when they think you are not looking its class warfare only it's car warfare. Wonder of the Bimmer crowd has this problem or the Mercedes bunch.

Some people are just angry to see the c7 I think. I've been flipped off twice in the past couple months. Both for relatively mundane things that we all do in all our vehicles.
I pulled 2 foot forward out of a parking space before reolizing there's a middle aged angry looking woman doing 40 through the Kmart parking lot. I stop completely and wait for her to pass. She stops completely takes both hands off the wheel and gives me a double middle finger all the while you can see her yelling at me inside her ****** ford focus
I should have rolled down the window and agreed with her that her life indeed does suck and owning a brand new corvette is pretty nice
I have had people pace me on the e way if I get annoyed with that. I switch it to track downshift to 3rd and disappear

I'm getting this a lot. I have yet to see another C7 on the street here in Minneapolis/St Paul, so I'm not surprised people are interested.

Sometimes I wish I was a cop...
I have been pulled over on the highway for doing less than 10 mph over the limit, but I have never once in my life seen anyone pulled over for tailgating. Personally, I think riding someone's bumper at highway speeds is far more dangerous than doing less than 10 over. If I were a cop I would focus on the aggressive drivers who like to tailgate and make split second lane changes without signaling. For good measure I would also pull over people who like to hangout in the left lane while blocking the flow of traffic and ignoring all the signs that read, "Slower traffic keep right".
