I feel your pain. So far at the dealerships around here I have only been able to sit in one. And that was just recently. Too bad it has the upgraded race seats. I still haven't been in one that had standard 2LT seats.
They are real hot for me to buy as long as I don't ask to drive one. Then they get that panic look on their face. You can tell they have been told by management, NO TEST DRIVES.
I am really going to have a problem because I am stuck between choosing auto and standard. I have the C6 auto and I need to test drive a standard.
Some of the smaller dealers will let you test drive, too. Make sure that they know you are serious. If you have financing with a bank or credit union already set up, and call to make sure that the car is available before you show up, it lets the dealer know you are serious.
I had my Credit Union call the dealer to let them know my check would be covered, and called to let them know what trade I had and what time I would be there. The dealer (Premiere Chevy in Bessemer, AL) let me be the first (and only) to test drive a Premiere Edition Coupe they had. Naturally, I drove it home.
Keep looking and you'll get that test drive.
Wanted to get some info from you guys. The other day The wife and i drive my C6 to a local dealer to pick something up at parts and while there we figured we take a C7 for a test drive. We pulled into the lot and there were three salesmen outside coking and smoking. Drove past them to pull into a spot and one of them tells me the car sounds great and asks if it has a cam. I tell him no its the super charger you hear. I told him I was picking something up in parts and when I'm done maybe we could take a C7 out. He looked at me funny and said, " we don't give any tests with the new Vette". I couldn't believe it. I said how do you expect to sell cars w/o a test drive? He said I sold one last night. I replied, well you won't be selling one to me and walked away.
In all my years I never had that happen. When I bought my C6 new the dealer tossed me the key to a new car and said, have fun! A year later he did the same with a Z06 when it made its debut. Any of you guys have n experience like this or is this an anomaly? I'm really curious to know who's had test drives prior and who hasn't. Thanks.
I never test drove my car and it was a fly and drive home and the only thing I asked was did they check the fluids before I drove it home 3200 miles !!!! I did test drive my 2013 Buick LaCrosse I got in October 2013 and it had 7 miles on it and had never been test driven !!! Wayne
22 People test drove a C7 last Saturday at Sonoma Raceway

Would you want someone "test driving" your C7 before you bought it? Do they know about the break-in for the engine or do they just redline it all around the block?
I'm looking to place an order for a C7 and this will be my very first Vette. I was told point blank by one dealer they will not test drive the Stingrays because all they can get on the lot are already sold orders. It is not really a big deal because I'm not comparitve shopping against a different car. The test drive would be more for my wife's benefit than mine anyway.

Exactly. Most dealers only get cars that are already sold orders. There is still a waiting list at our local dealer for Z51 cars, and the list has already started for Z06's
As we all know, right now the C7 is a hot item. Wait till all the excitement dies down and vettes are sitting on their lots. Then you'll be in the driver's seat, not them. Drive up in your vette and they'll be rolling out the red carpet with test drives etc. But for now, you have to put up with their stuff. Just the normal vette buying process.

I make a mental note of the dealers who act this way and avoid them. Notable example: dealer who stated that since I sat in their pristine 2008 base coupe on the showfloor (without asking), I was obligated to buy it...
It really is dealer, and salesperson dependent. We bought 3 MB SLK's and 1 CLK AMG from the same dealer. We were having the CLK serviced and noticed they had a new SLK 55 AMG and we told the salesperson we wanted to test drive it. I should point out that our previous salesperson had passed away and this guy was new. He said, we don't test drive the AMG's. I pointed to ours in the service bay, when the general manager walked over and asked how we were doing. I told him we wanted to test drive the SLK and he told the salesman to get us the FOB. He did and when he handed it to us he told us not to put many miles on it as it was sold! We took it out and drove it about 5 miles and were discussing buying one and took it back and picked up our car. We were gracious and asked the salesman how he could trade for our CLK. He quoted us a lowball figure on a low mileage, meticulously maintained car. I said, thanks and we left. About a month later as we were driving by we noticed they still had the car. We saw a new C7 and looked at each other and decided they were worth a look. We found our cyber gray beauty at a dealer in the area, test drove it and bought it on the spot. The Chevy dealer offered high book on our CLK sight unseen. MB called us about a month later and we told them we bought a Corvette instead. We are glad that we did! We would not have made an offer on the C7 if we could not have test driven it.
I couldn't find one to drive locally so I couldn't test drive one. I bought mine without a test drive from MacMulkin in NH and had it sent to a local MN dealer.
I had a bad experience there!!They don't offer test drives either. My 2005 Z51 was pictured with a GPS system and when I went there to buy the car the whole interior was different and No GPS!!!!I was pissed, to say the least. I will be bringing them to court if I don't get my GPS. The oil wasn't changed and had a squirrels nest in both air filters with acorns??Real nice!!!They do nothing to there used cars!!Be aware!!!

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out when a car is a hot seller.. you dont need to convince people to buy one. Which is really the whole reason for a test drive in the first place. How many test drives do you think Ferrari or Lamborghini offer?
While it sucks no one will "just toss you the keys" to a C7. If I was the dealer and had no issue selling C7's.. I wouldn't bother giving test drives either. Just another headache to deal with, especially considering how fast these cars are. You never know how a car that goes out for a test drive.. is going to come back in.

That's probably very true. It will get easier as time goes by, but I doubt I would be buying one without a test drive.
