After 4 months I have finally been asked the question. I am sitting at a light when two old people who are like 3 lanes over in a turn lane yell to me. "Hey that's a nice car What kind of car is that is this the new Camaro?" I wanted to get out and bitchslap them back to the 60's and I will explain why at the bottom. So I just put a smile on my face and said " it's much better than the Camaro, it is the new stingray corvette. Then I got a nice thumbs up and gave a little demonstration with a grin. Normally I give people the benefit but when this car is so publicly acknowledged on the boob tube there should be no excuse.
What I don't understand is this car looks nothing like a Camaro unless they are insulting the lights on the back. The rear lights would be the only semi- close resemblance and even that is a crap shoot because most chevy cars have similar tail lamps now. But how can you confuse a car especially with Corvette name and logo right on the center of the rear, how can people confuse this car? This is why I wanted to bitchslap them.
I don't know why you have to bitchslap a couple of senior citizens; you probably don't know exactly what model Hundai they were driving. Enjoy the ride
I don't think the new Corvette is as advertised as you think it is to the general public, ha ha. I know for a fact I have not seen a single commercial for the new Stingray like I have the new Mustang, Challengers, Chargers, etc...
MOST people I know are really mostly unaware of a new Corvette. The people into cars are aware, but not your typical person who sees cars for nothing other than getting from A to B.
Hey, My Mom called me last night saying she just bought a VW EOS hard top convertible. I'm 51 and she's 70 and I had no idea what car she was talking about. Some people follow Corvettes, others don't. I don't follow VWs but I was glad that she is happy with the car she likes. The fact that the older couple thought it looked like a "nice car" is a compliment! Shows GM did it right and designed the Corvette with a style that reaches across many generations, even those that don't follow Corvettes.
The fact that it says corvette right across the middle of the car is a cause for a bitch slap non age discriminate except children under 10 of course. They weren't senior citizens like 80 years old more like 55-60. Just cause they can get a senior discount at denny's doesn't mean they are truly senior.

Some older folks may have more pressing things on their minds. Some day if you are lucky you will get to their age and maybe understand there may be more pressing things on people's minds than the distinction between a Camaro and a Corvette.
If you really need validation that your Vette doesn't look like a Camaro from a couple of senior citizens, you probably have more to worry about than just that. Especially since you thought you needed to bitch slap them. Nice.
Yesterday I was driving home from my office in silicon valley. I have only seen two or three other Stingray's in the Bay Area outside of mine to date, and they were all parked.
In my rearview mirror, I saw a car catching-up that I was certain to be my first Stingray to Stingray freeway encounter. As always, I prepared my wave.
However, something was a little bit off. I wasnt sure what - but I figured maybe he had done the mean headlight mod or something.
As he got closer, I realized that it was actually the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. We waved regardless.
Three (!) lanes over and you automatically expected them to have read the rear-end of your 'vette? Heck, maybe they were stopped in the turning lane before you pulled up and would not have been able to see the name.
Some people around here can be so pretentious. They gave you a compliment, who cares that they didn't know it was a Corvette. Say thank you, wave, and be on your way.
I sure you were a little mad because you couldn't pay cash for your car and your payments are more than you can afford so don't get mad at the senior citizens because they could probably buy and sell you!
Hmmm I guess they could have said "you should have gotten the Camaro young lady"....lol A compliment is a compliment, doesn't matter if they get the make or model right.

Don't talk about something you know nothing about. Whether sarcastic or not who are you to say what I can and can't afford.
As for everyone else I kind of exaggerated my story with the whole bitch slap thing to be funny and well people didn't think it was funny. I guess I forgot the avg age of this forum is probably above 60 so i apologize if I offended anyone here with this post.
