I know I seen posts about this but just on the one they used. Can I have some recommendations on the best shifter to use that is for the 7 speed?
I would also like to get a **** to match the car if possible but I would sacrifice that for quality and accurate shifts
Obviously when people post about an aftermarket shifter, they probably think it is the best shifter for the C7.
However, the only two that have made comments are for the MGW shifter, and the modified Hurst style shifter (like I put in my car.)
You can usually get the same basic shifter with different sticks to fit the stock ****.
One of the main reasons I changed shifters is because I did not like the feel of the stock ****, plus I also like the retro look of the Hurst stick.
I like the build quality of the MGW. I especially like the fact that once it's installed, it looks 100% OEM. The shift boot attaches to the **** just like it does with the factory shifter and the feel of the MGW and it's shifting is a no compromise solution. There is no detectable difference in ease of shifting between the MGW and the stock shifter if you use the MGW Shift Box and the MGW really shortens the throw while providing a very positive shift.
You may want the mods to move this thread to the tech section as that is where most of the tech guys who use aftermarket shifters tend to monitor threads.
While I have not installed an aftermarket (yet) in my C7 I did install an MGW in my C6. The consensus on the C6 side of this Forum is the MGW is the best. I suspect that will be the case for the C7 also. It works very well. So far, I am pleased with the stock C7 shifter.
thanks for the input, I do love the way the hurst looks and I do have a white car. My buddy has a roush stage 3 and his shifter is so botchy if that makes sense or the right term for it hahah.. I want to improve my shift from 2nd to 3rd is my main concern. I feel the oem shifter can get lost between 3rd and 4th but I also probably need to get use to it more.

I've had several generations of the MGW on several Corvettes. All were HUGE improvements over stock. The one I just installed is the best yet. No noises! You can to choose to use your stock **** and shifter boot or go with their ****. I stayed with stock. It looks just like the stock shifter, just a little shorter. The shifting is much more positive though, I'd say 300% better. 2nd to 3rd? Just close your eyes and shove it forward as hard as you can!

You can feel and hear the HURST style shifter click into each gear, and all you have to do to hit 3rd is push it straight forward.
It uses HURST components, including internals and the rectangular stick, but Core Shifters makes a custom base to fit the Corvette. By the way, I had this one in my C5Z06, so any shifter should fit C5 through C7 since the lower box is the same.
It uses internals from the HURST billet plus2 shifter with a bolt on stick.
Does anyone know if I go with the mgw shifter and stick with the stock **** can you use the new GM approved ball ***** found on west coast corvettes. they show ***** you can get with different options on them. Does anyone know if this will work?
I thought the stock shifter was decent, until I got my MGW installed. It is the best mod you can do. I used the stock **** and boot, so I would think the GM ball ***** made to go onto the stock shifter would work on the MGW made to take the stock shift ****.
