Just can't decide if I want to order my Crystal Red C7 with the dual full length black racing stripes or not. I love both looks. Any thoughts on potential issues like resale concern; durability of the stripes, etc.....?
Anyone have these and do you have any issues with them?
Crystal red? I woudn't....It's sort of an old mans color (no offense intended, just a personal observation) and could limit resale down the road. It would take a brave dealer to order stripes for stock. I had this conversation with my delivering dealer....While he Loved the look of mine, he woudn't order for stock since it's a love or hate thing... Certain colors are naturals for the striping..others aren't... Really depends on how aggressive you want to look..Maybe add them later and see how you like it..Silver stripes might be a better choice..Run the Chevy configurator and see what YOU like..
I elected to go with the stripes. Seems to really draw the extra attention. Though I've only had my car for a month I have had no problems with the stripes. I say go for it
Iam getting the stripes on my 15. It makes the car look much more "aggressive" and more "macho". Now if you don't want that then don't get the stripes.
Go for it, if that's the combination you prefer. Don't worry about resale, just enjoy your individual customization. You can always remove the stripes if you change your mind later on, or want to sell it without them.
As far as any color or combination being identified as old mans color is like saying chrome wheels are for old men, yet too many chrome wheels out there for just old men to be buying. Now some are tired of the blacked out look. What's next, black wheels are for old men?
I (unscientifically) would think that stripes are going to hurt resale a bit because it's such a personal taste thing and the people who want them can add them later if they choose. But, with that being said I wouldn't choose not to get them personally for that reason unless you plan on flipping the car in a pretty fast manner. If they make you happy, go for it! It's not to my taste for this car but that's why they're called options, people can customize to get more of what they want
Since you're this close to considering stripes I'd say go for it. People either love them or dislike them. My AW with Crystal Red stripes gets compliments every week. I've gotten hundreds since bringing her home from NCM in March.
Ill share two of the comments from this Friday at work.....One from a coworker who said his college age daughter saw the car and keep telling him that "that car can't be a Stingray because their neighbor has a Stingray and it's nothing like it". My coworker went on to say he has seen several C7s and the stripes make the car. Another friend told me he saw a girl's Facebook post with a pic of the rear of my car. He said the quote was "I don't know much about cars but this one has a sexy butt".
Good luck in your decision. Glad to hear of your color choices....so my combo can remain fairly rare. Love the Crystal Red as my first Vette is a '02 Magnetic Red II, one of the older versions of that color.
Here's another option. How about just the stripe on the hood, not the split stripe. Saw a CRM yesterday with the solid hood stripe (just from the vent to the hood edge) and it thought it was a nice way to personalize the car.
More choices for you

Excellent suggestion.....breaks up the red without being excessively bold like the dual full length stripe. The carbon flash solid single stripe on just the hood behind the vent on the CRT is grabbing me. Thanks!
I had an 04 Z16 and the stripes were definitely an attention grabber. I can't say I would get stripes again, the car draws enough attention as it is, unless it's on arctic white.

Comming from a 08' Pace Car that had stripes and decals all over.
Its up to each person...I love that people make their car the way they want it.
My 2015 Shark Gray will not come with a Stripe but that will be one of the first mods. I'm haveing a custome Stinger stripe done.
