I really loved the sucking in sound that you get from switching gears in a manual car. I heard you can get this sounds from a "dump valve" or "blow off valve" has anyone tried this on their vette yet? And what do you advise... I really love the sound. Current power is fine.
Study up a bit...Blow off valves are for Turbo and supercharged cars. They release the boost pressure in the intake tract when you get off the throttle to shift etc. You don't have boost pressure in a naturally aspirated car. If you want more induction noise consider a CAI (AFE, Halltech etc).
I justtttt read all these articles on it... ;( so I guess I'll need to get a supercharger for 5k
A supercharger installed and tuned you will be around $6500. - $7k.
Just also realize you severely impact your warranty if you ever have an engine or power train issue. Not all blow off valves are real loud. I have a 51mm Tial on my car and it's extremely loud, it's probably one of the loudest on the market. I'm running an ECS supercharger with methanol injection and a Corsa exhaust. I'm right at 650rwhp at 8lbs of boost.
they are not looked down upon per say, as they are necessary with a forced induction car. it's just the whooshing byproduct is normally admired most by squirrels driving import 4 cylinder front wheel drive economy cars trying to pump out over 275 horsepower.
so as a general rule, we don't like anything they do.
