Default Dragstrip

I plan to take my C7 to the dragstrip and was wondering what the best settings are for the best times. I have the Z-51 package and an automatic.
Thanks.

Most important setting is to use launch control...available in track mode, competitive driving mode and performance traction management.

Fail.

Launch control is garbage. Learn how to drive the car in competitive driving mode without the traction aids and you'll get much better ET's.

I have already been to the drag strip and done very well.......11.94@116 first time out. I have a base model convertible. Just go the the C7 Fast List and hopefully you could learn everything from there. Check out Snorman, he is top dog on the C7 bone stock fast list. I only had three runs and eventually I got better on each run. I did not use launch control because I was not familiar with it at the time. First pass, I just went from idle and gradually press the accelerator because I really did not want to spin on the first pass. My mode was track mode with traction control off. To my knowledge, the top guys are using that mode.

I guess I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the OP was not an experienced drag racer.

I agree that a skilled and experienced driver can do better without LC, especially with an auto.

If he's a non-z51, without ptm, he'll blow the tires apart off the line and get a horrible 60ft time. It's way too much rpm for a manual car on street tires. I know because I did it.

With launch control I couldn't get better than 2.3 60 ft time. Without it I pulled a 1.84 60ft.

Around what RPM's did you launch?

As I said mine is an automatic. What rpm's should i hold it at prior to the launch for best times. Also it sounds like i should be in track mode with traction control off when doing this.
Any other suggestions. Thanks.

I believe the OP is only concerned about his A6 Z51. It won't take long to learn how to launch this A6. The M7 is a different ball game. Just put it in the mode I suggested and start from idle and then progress your rpm from there if you wish. Maybe Snormanwill chime in and give you a little information just to confirm what I have already conveyed. I think the highest I went on the rpm was around 1700 and that was my 11.94 pass. I wish to redeem myself with a better ET/Mph trap speed but right now it is just too hot in Florida. I only used my technique first time out and my goal was to run low 12's....glad I exceeded that. By the way, where are you located?

I have the same car.

1. Traction control off
2. Use Track mode (no PTM use)
3. Burn out, then stage
4. Launch on last yellow, right off idle

Snorman gave me really sage advice.

Good look out, VNAMVET. Sorry I forgot about you being that we used the same track. Note, I have not used this technique yet. And I hope that I get a chance before I do my mods with Jeremy. Maybe we get to see one another late this fall.

I slipped the clutch around 2500 rpm for my best launches. Any higher and I get too much spin. Any lower and I bog down too much.

Cool, just playing around I've found this to be the sweet spot for me as well.
