Default AFM Mode

Can someone tell or show me where the signal/light for Active Fuel Management is located? I can't find a dash indicator for it in my owners manual and I don't see anything when I drive in Eco Mode at highway speeds. Members keep mentioning a V8 or V4 indicator but I have yet to find one. I believe it is going into V4 mode because the exhaust sound changes but that is all I notice. I've watched in Eco, Sport, and Touring Mode but do not see anything to indicate it is actually going into V4 mode. I have a 3LT Z51 if that means anything.

Switch your dash display to Sport Mode. I have my sub menu set to one of the info displays and see V8 or V4 depending on whether running on 4 cylinders or 8.

Driving mode does not matter.

Interesting. You learn something new every day. So the dash display doesn't need to be in sport mode to see the V4/V8 mode light up as long as fuel economy is displayed? I've run my dash display in port mode display since day 1 and always have the fuel economy display up. As such, I always see that V4/V8. I didn't know that would show up in other gauge cluster display modes but then again, I never tried it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going on a trip in a few weeks and I'm trying to learn all this stuff before I'm distracted by driving. This car has so much going on it has taken me two weeks just to get to this point. There are just a few more things to work out and then I'll put them all together and take my trip. Part of the trip is in Canada so I had to figure out the US/Metric thing. Does anyone know if the Nav will work up there?

I use this display often. Found it by accident when I was looking over the different information displays. Engine Hours of operation and total engine RPMs is also cool to check out.

Afm is another "mattress and the pea" situation: watch the light and you'll start to feel the AFM every time and you'll decide it's a huge problem. Forget about it, put on the cruise and a nice playlist , and you'll never notice it and have a great time...

Glen e:
Wow you called that one. Pulled up the screen with the AFM symbols and went for a short ride. I was doing 30mph through my neighborhood while in track mode and it popped into V4. This things in V4 way more times then I thought it would be. Now I wish there was a way to turn it off. Put the screen back to the way it was and don't think about it! Well now all I do is think about it. Ignorance is Bliss.

Yessssir...I understand that C7 NAV covers North America, of which Canada is part ! Depending on where you drive, our roads are generally better than Michigan too....ay.

Dontov7:
Thanks. I'll be hitting Niagara Falls the second week in July. Canadian side that is. Will be coming through Michigan to get there.
