Default Window tint question

Can the tint be done without taking apart the door panel's? What type of tint is everyone using?

I’m going to get 3M Crystaline film. Appears to have better heat rejection at any level of darkness than any of it’s competition. You can have virtually clear film and still knock down the heat or much darker and much better heat rejection.

Kills almost all of the UV as well. Don

Mine were done without taking the door panels off by a local installer, it looks great.

Mine was done without taking off the door panels.

Has anyone noticed that the tint makes headlights blurry? I like being able to look for cops in my mirrors but with the tint it makes distance viewing blurry. I have 20/20 vision so that isn't the issue. Anyone ever notice this? Happens on both of my cars.

Depends on how long ago you had it done. It takes a long time to fully dry but, once dry, it should be clear as glass.

Default Huper Optik

You might want to check out Huper Optik tint. I have it on my 08 Lexus and I had it on my 07 C6 and it works great. I plan to put it on my C7 soon. It's a bit more expensive but works great.

Seems you will never have a clean window again with "tint"!

Unless I was in Texas where I could see some tinting may be essential.

But otherwise I hate window tinting period! Dark tint looks phoney and ruins the car!
I bought a tinted car once thank god it all came off. I just use some ray-bans!

It's not essential, even in Texas.

I've had Crystalline on my C7 since January. I also did my wife's 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland at the same time. Clarity is excellent and as it heats up here in the Florida summer, the heat rejection really becomes obvious.

..to OP, no you do not need to remove the door panels to do a proper installation.

I think I would like a modest tint. My state allows 30% in light reduction.

Sunglasses dont keep your arms and side of your face from igniting in the sun(summer or winter) but decent quality ceramic tint does by blocking over 80% of the radiant heat in sunshine (want to say infa red but dont want to sound stupid if that is wrong)
