interesting--"splitting hairs" when you are wrong, "idiot" when someone else is wrong. man up to it and own it when youre wrong. it wasnt the first time nor will it be the last.

Quite honestly, I thought your point was that you didn't think that GM would paint a car in a new color that hadn't been released yet even if the customer was willing to pay through the nose for it.

No, more interested in how the plant would agree to paint ANY one off color. I can see it being painted for an internal collection/display, but probably not even that. Be interesting to bring a grind off a spot in a door sill or under hood and see what the paint schedule is....

I certainly believe it. As a matter of fact, I paid extra and pulled some strings in BG to have my car come with a V12 under the hood and a DC transmission.
Now if I could only find my key fob, I'd pop the hood and show you...

It is pretty hard to believe BG would do it for any amount of money. Most likely the owner got it painted and if he got it painted for 4 grand, it probably wouldn't be a great paint job. My wife wanted our 2006 Porsche Carrera painted guards red. It is white. They quoted me 10-12 grand to "do it right". Hearing that, she wanted me to get it wrapped. It is staying white.

That's the only way I could see GM building the car. Otherwise it's likely that the guy loved his Inferno Orange 2012 GS so much that he had a new 2014 painted that color. It's far cooler to claim the car is a factory one-off than just a repaint. On an old car that story might fly but we're a tough crowd here at CF. We want answers

I dunno....something is fishy about the owners story and it's not the Stingrays on the fenders...
So it was totally orange appearing?....in the right kind of light torch red can appear slightly orange...just sayin...

If somebody spots the car again please look through the windshield and write down the last 6 numbers of the vin. Then a GM dealer can run a VIS and see the color and paint code listed for the build.

Maybe it's the same guy that "ordered" a factory C6 Z06 Automatic Convertible that Chuck Cow tuned.

There is no way the factory would do that. You'd have people flooding the dealer's with custom order paint colors and they'd never get any cars built because the paint shop would always be backed up.
My guess is the body shop at the dealership did that - also, makes you wonder if the factory finish was damaged or something.
Kinda reminds me of when Purifoy Chevrolet painted the GS and took it to car shows when it was brand new. Everyone was speculating that GM painted it that color.
