Default Bugs, bugs, bugs...

I drive mine every day so I can't be as **** about appearance and upkeep as some of you out there. (I don't disagree with you but as a DD I'd go nuts if I let every speck of dirt, etc upset me.). Bugs - ESPECIALLY LOVEBUGS!! - are a constant problem. Decided I'd give RejeX a try. Put some on front bumper and rear view mirrors before leaving the museum. Darn stuff works! Bugs wash off easily! I haven't tried leaving the goo on to bake for days so can't say about that but the dang stuff does appear to work. If you live in bug heaven like I do you might want to give it a try.

I haven't tried Rejex, but I keep a coat of 'wax' (polymer) on my car and have gotten into the habit of removing bugs from the front end immediately after I get back from a ride. I spray the front end with water (from a spray bottle), let it sit for a couple of minutes and then VERY lightly remove the bugs with a soaked, dripping, cotton wash cloth. They come off very easily.. then a quick dry and it's done.

Once those suckers are baked on and dried, they can be extremely difficult to get off, and can even mar/etch the paint.

Rejex is about the first polymer they made. Made for military to keep bugs off turbine fan blades, Invented by Ed kollin, (sp) he also invented nu finish, virtually same stuff. Both great products, now there are many by meguires, ultima, blackfire, and others. They all have the same asbilty to keep bugs from sticking. Find one you like and use often. The latest are ones you wipe on and walk away, no buffing.

Hands down for protecting the front is Collinite 845, but a bit tricky to put on.

My Navy retirement tour was in NOLA and we lived on the North Shore in Pearl River. Going back and forth across the I10 bridge everyday was an intimate experience with your Love Bugs while they were being intimate

We were told that during the 'season' spraying the front with WD40 would help keeping them from sticking w/o hurting the paint. I was driving a big GMC King Cab so I helped a whole group of those intimate bugs in their special moment . The spray worked and didn't hurt the paint at all over a four year period. Would I do it to my C7 ??? Umm, guess I'd have to be there during the season and try it in an area 1st but yea, probably because they're a major PITA !!!

For those not plugged into this South East "bug" it is a bug that I heard was developed to fix some part of our ecological infrastructure but turned out not only to be a "fail" but they have no known predators so they come out after a heavy rain at certain times of the year in the south east and mate with each other by attaching themselves at the butts and fly in small swarms by the millions!! Additionally once on your car their guts are highly acidic and if not removed within 24 hours whats left of their bodies etch themselves into your cars paint...lovely..they are a curse
That said...daily driver here as well and there is not a night that goes by when I do not wipe this car off out of respect for what it is.

I actually tried WD-40 on my C6 to remove the little ba----ds. Worked reasonably well. Never tried it before to keep them from sticking but it did not appear to affect the paint.
