Default Emissions code

I have a preliminary build sheet from Les Stanford in Michigan. The dealer originally had emissions code FE9, but I informed him that as I live in WA state, it appeared to me that NE1 seemed more correct. He agreed and changed the emissions code to NE1. However he also added code NC7. When I asked him about that, he said that that code was also necessary.

On the order sheet provided here on the forum, NC7 says "not required" in several states, one which includes WA.

Any ideas/knowledge on this? Is the dealer wrong to put NC7 as well as NE1 on the build sheet?

If you are describing the two page Workbench, do not fret. If you are describing the eighteen plus page Autobook then look close at what is described, but even then do not fret. The Autobook will actually explain the progression but it seems it is not prinyed out very often these days. Whatever is on either, Bowling Green will build to meet the destined state's requirements.

I am curious as well. I reside in Washington State as well as the OP and my emissions code on my 2 page workbench states "NE1" only.

2 orders for WA state from the same dealer and one was ordered NE1. The other was ordered NE1 and NC7?

NC7 = Emissions Override, Federal

Strange?

Strange? No.

Maybe your dealer will print out the Autobook for you and if so what I am saying will be easier to understand.

The Workbench is fine but it is often not accurate. One reason is over the years a ROU code will change but the Workbench sometimes lags. Do not worry, your build is not governed by the Workbench.

Thanks for your reply. Admittedly, I have never heard of an Autobook.

Its not a matter of understanding. Its not a matter of Autobook vs. the workbench order. Just trying to get clarification as to what is required for Washington State. There should only be one right answer.

I have NE1 on my order. The OP has NE1 and NC7. Both will be licensed in Washington State.

Here is the question:
Do I need to ad NC7 to my order? Or does the OP need to have NC7 removed from his order?

Which one. Door A or B?

Yes, we could clarify this with the salesperson but he is very busy and thought someone could come up with a good explanation on this forum before making the call.

Regards

I am also in WA and ordered from MacMulkin. FWIW mine only had:

NE1: Emission:
DE/CT/MA/MD/ME/NJ/NY/OR/PA/RI/VT/NJ/
OR/WA

Its not required !!! Look at page 8 of the sales guide NC7 not required for Washington State !!! I bought my car in KC and mine was NE 1 and I too had a discussion with my internet car manager !!! If you live in California that might be different but you should talk to someone who purchased a C 7 in that state !!! Wayne

I believe the car is the same whether you have FE9, YF5, NE1 or NB8. NE1 just includes the certifications so you can register the cars in the north east.

I had read this same thing on this forum some time ago. Its all about the certification sticker and their isn't a difference in emissions.

Interestingly, When I submitted my options to Dennis, I had put FE9 down. He changed it to NE1. He said he thought it breathed better and possibly sounded different and would satisfy Washington State.

He also stated that he was no expert and couldn't confirm this and was willing to FE9 back on the order if I so desired.

NE1 is what my order I went with.

I forgot about the On Line Order Guide which contains the same info as the AutoBook. My bad.

I think once you look at it your questions will be answered.

The only place I found emission information mentioned is the " Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle " and mine says " This vehicle has a 50-state emission system " Wayne

This has me confused. Does this imply that different states (let's ignore CA since they like being different) have different emissions requirements? I thought they were all the same?

Cheers.

Some states have adopted the California standard. It is easier to understand if you look at the Order Guide or Autobook. Well, it is easier to understand the confusion.

Now you see it is not that easy to puzzle out but easier now than in recent years when there were seven or eight choices instead of the four we now have.
