Default Ceramic brake pads

I despise the dusting of factory pads and have always put ceramics on my other Vettes which were great.
Before you flame me with the "search" bit, I have done so but seems I can only come up with Carbo Tech having same for the C7. I have no problem with Carbo Tech but they are pricey, like $350 for fronts and rears.
Seems that these type pads for my C5's and C6 were dirt cheap...like less than $100 for both thru NAPA, AutoZone or some such? They worked fine for my driving as I don't do track events.
Any suggestions out there?

I'm in the same boat - want ceramic, unwilling to pay quite that much. Keep watching - they will become available eventually.

Get them if you want them bad enough but .....
In April at the Bash in Bowling Green I participated in a meeting with the engineers for a question and answer session with new C7 owners. I asked the specific question re: replacing OEM pads with the ceramic ones starting to show up. He asked "you have a Z51 w/black wheels don't you?" 1st, this is the worst scenario for showing the brake dust as it shows worse on the black wheels and the Z51's have air deflectors mounted on the lower control arms to collect air and ram it through the wheels blowing the air past the rotors (and coating the wheels w/dust). Then he said that the OEM rotors are not designed for ceramic pads and they will gouge them in time. The dust is a result of exceptional braking ability designed into the Z51 package. With only the 'provided' cooling rings you can safely track the car. It's an incredibly high performance sports car and everything is designed around that function rather than eliminating annoying brake dust. I've come to grips with that and have a very good cone shaped brush that can go inside the barrel and clean the wheel very well when I was the car. When I'm feeling lazy I can go to the local spray & wash with 4 quarters and use the wheel and tire cleaner with very good results. I'd rather do that than chance damage to my rotors. If you don't get the Z51, it's not as big an issue.

I have the ceramics and love them. No brake dust on the wheels. I put the pads on the car 2 days after I got it home.

Elmer--Did you get the Carbo Techs or did you find another source.
Thanks.

I wish someone had pushed them on this whole cooling ring nonsense. Its supposed to be track ready but you have to put these cooling rings on. Yet you can't leave the cooling rings on, so before and after every track day you have a serious maintenance job. That's just a major flaw.

The non-Z51 cars dont dust at all, at least mine doesnt after long periods of non-washing.

From what I read the pads are the same dimensions, may be cheaper than aftermarket if they will fit.

If not just wait a while, I'm sure cheaper replacement pads will start showing up eventually.

I got the Carbo techs. I simply didn't want to wait until someone else got them on the market. Easiest pad change I've ever done. It took longer to get the wheel off than to change the pads.

I just had my rotors turned (Monday)and was told by the Service Mgr
that my car is an early build (09/13) and that the newer cars
have a different part number for brake pads. I hope the pads I am getting
from you will fit/work!

I've got to ask with less than a year old, how many miles and how did you use it? Lots of Track use? I've got just under 12,000 miles and my pads and rotors are in great shape, still original OEM pads. Only track use is several laps around Talladega which wasn't hardly any use on them at all. But moderate use in the mountains. Z51/A6 with Mag Ride and lots of dust on my black rims. I use the paddle shifter a lot to downshift, it helps. But I've a cone shapped brush that I start my wash with by going inside the barrels with it, no problem then wash the whole car. Sometimes I just use the spray wash with the wheel/tire cleaner then high pressure spray on wheels and works pretty swell for one whole dollar . I was warned by a factory engineer at the Bash about using ceramic pads on the OEM rotors as it could/probably would scar them. So I just clean my wheels and enjoy the 'stop' when I need it.

I'm having the Carbo Techs put on tomorrow. I hated paying that much, but having to clean the silver Z51 wheels so often is such a pain.
