Default Door rub

After more than six months of extreme pleasure, the right door leading edge started rubbing inside front fender. I noticed a rub sound which I mistakenly disregarded. Now paint is rubbed off.

Panels appear mismatched, not previously apparent. There is no apparent reason, absolutely no body damage. Any ideas as to why this could happen?

Z51 Arctic White Convertible, 7 speed, Black wheels, performance exhaust mag ride, museum delivery 01/06/2014. Kalahari 3LT, Kalahari top. Vin: 9433. Mileage: 4883.

It's a simple adjustment that can be done at a dealer, a few have had it fixed, the paint can be touched up

Overall, not a major problem.....

That sucks, bring it to the dealer, shouldn't be that hard to fix, did it just start doing it? Very odd if it just started.

I thought that I saw some mention of a TSB/Recall on the panel alignment on this forum. Did a quick search but nothing came up.

I would check with the dealer.

Common problem. There have been many threads on this issue. Dealer actually replaced my right front fender as a fastener on the fender was broken, causing the problem.

On June 23 my dealer repaired the passenger side fender / door contact point on my NRB Z51 2LT coupe VIN 22486 delivered May 1. The paint was chipped on both edges. The technician said there were 3 loose bolts which were not holding the fender in place.

The dealer used touch-up paint on both edges. Not perfect but acceptable.

The dealer service performed was "#PI1220 per Bulletin 78-0489".

This is my only known problem. Have 3500+ miles of smiles.

I had the exact same problem one week ago. I heard a cricket like sound getting worse and worse, so investigated. I immediately put grease on it to further investigate, as it had not yet wore through the paint. I checked the upper hinge bolts for tightness, and they were just a little over finger tight (the bolts that move the top of the door in and out).

So, took the wrench and loosened them up, shoved the door in a little, then tightened them. Checked clearance with a piece of paper towel, and it pulled through with just a slight drag. Moved door in a little more, no drag.

I wish I could get to the small bolt in the middle of the panel in front of the door, but access to it is under the hood, down inside a very limited access area, which would be a bugger to get to. So, forgot about trying to adjust the middle of that panel out a little, and will just monitor.

Had dealer, Wallace Chevrolet, Stuart, FL, warranty service on door rub. Made appointment, took less than an hour.

They adjusted fender, said upper mount fastener loose, and offered to paint door. I opted for touch up. Back to normal.

What is disturbing is that fender mounting came loose. Why? And will it loosen again?
