Lots of threads about what a waste of money the GM battery protection package is because all it consists of is a $50 maintenance charger with the C7 logo and a bag.

In fact, you can get your own "protection package" for under $29 at Harbor Freight...

Yes, I paid about 8 to 10 for one years ago and still using it. I thought with that package came a plug somewhere on the car that you just plugged the unit into and not have to clip on the battery itself.

You just plug it into the lighter or what used to be a lighter outlet...

if that's the SDN rpo... GM recently removed it; claiming "not available". I know it was stripped-off from my order, by GM themselves.

No...They are powered off when the car is not on. There is a dedicated Power plug in the hatch area that is hot at all times. This is where you plug in the battery tender or equivalent. The "Battery package" includes a Ctek charger, which is a quality brand, but one with few features. You can buy their MUS 4.3 version on Amazon etc. for $65 or so, with many more features and capabilities..
