Has anyone used that site and actually got somewhere? I've tried over and over again, but I can't get anywhere. Some guy named Larry is the one that's supposed to do the tracking from the time you order all the way through the system to the dealership.
Are you talking about: http://www.chevrolet.com/order-tracking.html? I have no idea who "Larry" is. This site is automated. Just need your GM Order number and the State where the ordering dealership is located. I tracked by build through it.
Chevy/GMConnect ceased activity a couple of years ago. If your question is related to the Chevrolet "track my order" site, I have long considered it to be a true waste of bandwidth and of little use to anyone who does not take pleasure in banging their own head against a cement block wall.

Click on the site....go to the lower right side and click on CHAT and give them your order number and state and they will give you an instant reply as to status of your order, ask for customer service for the event code.

Been there, done that. They can't tell me if my car has been loaded on a train yet, and if it has, where is it now. It left the plant on the morning of the 16th.
As for Larry, I hope he doesn't get paid for the service he's not providing.
Leaves a lot to be desired from before build to after dealer delivery.
If one is reaching Larry through Chevy/GM Connects one must have used a time machine. Being a slacker has nothing to do with it. Larry was a Texas based salesperson who with four volunteers did a heroic job keeping GM vehicle retail order buyers up to date as their orders moved from one status level to the next. It worked well until GM changed the way the info could be accessed making the automatic program unfunctional and ultimately leading to its demise.
Whenever this question comes up I can not help think of how good the official Chevy order tracking is (recall I posted it is an absolute waste of bandwidth, it is that good) to how good GMConnects was.
Notice there is no automatic update by CCS or BeckyD, each has to check by hand every time an update is requested. The data stream was purposely made this way by GM and done for the goal of increasing traffic to the various GM Divisions (my opinion no fact to substantiate) web sites.
That is the site I referenced. Are you sure it is still active? I ask because I have tried to use it on two different orders in the last couple of years and could not get it to work.

And it was NEVER a Chevrolet or a General Motors staffed site. One volunteer lived in LA, another in GA, and it looks like one may have lived in CO. Don't recall where the fourth volunteer resided.

I did the live chat thing a little bit ago. They said the car has not been loaded on a train yet. I told them it left BG in the morning of the 15th or 16th. I don't think they are up to date as we would hope.
The problem is systems designed for internal use are being adapted and the result is good most of the time and bizarrely inaccurate for no apparent reason.
It does work well if you are sitting at your dealer's salesperson desk and your salesperson either checks or asks the IT person to check; I have long thought there is a server the dealer can access for their own orders and a master server CCS (or Becky) can access that is updated overnight.
And none of these two are effective once at 4200 when the assembly plant turns over tracking to dispatch, which is not GM staffed.
Interesting (to me) is ChevroletConnects began to facilitate trackjng Camaros as they left Ontario to trek their way across the country (usually by train). Status changes were grafted on and status changes are what tracking can do most effectively.
