OK, so, if I ask who makes a portable CD player for a C7, that is a plug and play, such that I can play it in C7 sound system accessing my USB port, some of you shall lambast me for not getting past CDs. But, here's the problem. The wife and I in traveling listen to stories on CD from the local library. The C7 does not have a CD player, and we want to listen to library story CDs, and so we want to get a portable (not permanently mounted) CD player that we can plug into our C7 sound system via USB. Yes, maybe copy the stories to something I could use via my C7 USB port, but am sure my library would have a problem with that, and so we don't want to go there. So, again, without the slams about using a CD player, is there a portable CP player out there I can plug and play into my 3LT C7 sound system?
Just get a portable CD player and go see a radio shack guy, tell em you want to make the CD player work. He'll get you the cord. It plugs in the center console storage area......
Just rip your cds to a USB drive or an SD card. I thought I was going to hate not having a CD player, but after ripping 500 CDs onto ONE SD card, I'm in heaven. The whole library at my fingertips. And anytime you want, you can erase it all and start over .. or get another SD card loaded however you want.
But .. as already noted, you can make virtually any portable CD player work using the AUX port .. if you feeling like lugging stuff around with you.

We also like to listen to library audio books when we are on trips. But, I just download them to an SD card via iTunes and return the CD's to the library. They don't care. It works great.

I agree, I am old school too and was concerned to read that the CD player had been eliminated from the C7. I then read the Forum comments, educated myself and "ripped" my CD's on to my computer, then transferred them to a SD card and could not be happier with the results. The sound quality is amazing, much better then my XM signal and the total cost of the 16 GB SD flash memory card and reader was less then $20.00.
Give it a try before you add a loose CD portable player into your C7.

I have 5000+ CDs burned to a portable hard drive. Its much better then a CD player
Well, If you want to get a little fancyier you could get a portable DVD player as these also play CDs, And your passanger could watch a movie now and then. they take up about the same space
Any portable CD player will work, then buy the cable below, plug it into the CD player and the other end into the aux input in center console. A portable DVD player will work as well and so may a laptop using the headphone jack.

I thank all of you for your advice. Got the $20 Best Buy CD player and the appropriate wiring, and now am listing to CD audiobooks. A bit convoluted with an external CD player and wiring, but it works. This was probably not the best choice of the above comments, but I have a daily driver as does the wife, plus a utility vehicle, that have CD players but no other options. So, we are stuck with CDs for those vehicles, and as we go through a lot of CD audiobooks, I can't see burning a lot of CDs to other devices. We are constantly switching audiobooks to one vehicle or another. We are turning into radio-days people as it seems we listen to more audiobooks, as well as read books, and actually talk, than we watch TV or go to movies.
Another possibility... the public library here has audiobooks that can be downloaded and put on a usb stick. You do it over the internet from home.
Select the title
Download the book directly to USB in PC
Put in the Vette and roll.....
Don't know if it's national, but in CT the libraries have a program called Overdrive that manages your "borrowed" audiobooks. Large selection and up to 5 books out at a time.

I also listen to audio books. I use audible.com. You can download the book of your choice to your phone. Once its on your phone you just use the Bluetooth playback option on your C7.

Well I have an AIWA CD player with EASS ( electronic anti shock sysyem ) Date on the bottom shows 1994 and it plays on batteries or if you can pick up some kind of converter from 12v to 6 volt it would play from the 12v jack !!! Again just like other things you could use the phone jack to the 3.5 mm jack !!! Good luck !!! wayne
