ACS splitter destroyed, Hit a tire on the road
I had my ACS splitter for just under 2 months. I was driving on the PA Turnpike and hit a retread tire from a tractor trailer. A pickup truck in front of me ran it over, and I clipped it. The splitter is cracked, the front corner of my car has some blackish rash from the tire.
This sucks !!!
What is the best way to clean and remove the black tire residue from my car (torch red)?

Thanks glen. I will give that a try tomorrow. It doesn't look like there is any damage to the "car" (maybe a very small scratch) on the underside of the right fang. The splitter is toast. I might call the insurance company and see what they say. I just need to get that tire rash off the paint
Thanks

Might try a cleaner car wax. It takes off most stuff like that.
Like a meguire's in the purple bottle. Sold everywhere is good one!

Have to agree here. Cleaner wax. I feel Acetone is a bit harsh to be putting on your paint.

The thread below explains how I repaired my splitter.

You are lucky if only your splitter was damaged. I hit a 'gater with my C6 years ago and it wiped out most of the driverside front corner of the car. New facia and fender, over $2500 when all was said and done.

Agreed on a cleaner wax, or maybe some bug & tar remover (immediately followed by a coat of wax).

Ugh that's so frustrating. I hate highways lately always road debris. I don't remember seeing it as often in the past. The other day I had chunks of wood across all three lanes like a crate just exploded on the highway. Lucky I had my truck that day it was bad and I always see chunks of tires.

Did you put it on your credit card? Some cards will cover that too, and with no deductible.

Follow up:
I was about to throw it in the garbage. However, I bought some fiberglass mesh, bondo, & carbon flash paint. It took me about 3 hrs and I got it back together.
Here are some before and after pics

If you were able to get the license number of the truck, you can make them pay for a new splitter. Even if a rock flys off the tire of a vehicle in front of you and chips your windshield, you can make them pay for repairs, as long as you can get their license number. At least it's that way here in Calif.
And BTW, most of those tire treads on the road are not from retread tires.
Carry on.
