Hah, I thought this article might be getting more attention here, but yeah, I was kinda of shocked at how much he was gushing. He does know where the car was made, right?
I too had been waiting for this review for a long time. I'm a HUGE top gear fan, and in particular while i watch the US version, it PALES in comparison to the UK one. . .and not only am I a huge top gear fan but an even bigger JK fan. I'm sorry, you can say the guy is crass or arrogant, but he is about the coolest damn guy on the planet, and he's usually right about what he critiques. . .and yes, as others have said, for him to pile this kind of praise on the C7 absolutely adds validation to the fact that it's not "your father's corvette" . . .it's a game changer. and as a 37 y/o guy who's always driven bmws and audis and wanted a porsche, when i saw, heard, and read about the C7 (I never test drove it), i simply had to have one. it's better in pretty much every way to it's true competition, with ZERO excuses. . .notice in the article, JK didn't even once make any mention about the interior being nicer etc. . .the fact that he didn't is actually huge. it's just a non issue. it's up to par with anything else in the league and doesn't distract from how good it drives. . .very damn cool. . .
Exactly, I saw there's some footage of this review online for the upcoming season 22. That means the review will be on one of the upcoming episodes

I'm not a fan of Clarkson or Top Gear (don't watch the show), but I know of his reputation and for him to come out and say the car is good is a major step forward for the Corvette. Good to see GM step up their game with the C7.
I never thought I'd live to see the day. I've been watching clerks on and top gear since the 80's when it was a proper petrol head car geek program. A long way removed from the massive hit it is now and two things were always universal: clarkson hates American cars and hates the 911.
I for sure thought he would find a reason to bash it and instead has had to resort to cheap stereotypical jibes against the people who he imagines drives them, and that's a victory for the C7.
Also, consider this statement: £64,540 for a 180mph convertible that looks this good and drives this well is still the bargain of the century.
He thinks it's a bargain at nearly twice the cost we are paying. That alone is nothing short of astonishing. But it's also true. People back home in blighty cannot believe how cheap a car it is over here and that's no bad thing for yours truly
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has driven the C7 Corvette Stingray, and his review is in: he loves it. No, seriously, he really loves it.
If you watch the original UK version of Top Gear, you may be aware of Clarkson's penchant for pooh-poohing American cars ... even European cars built in the US. He's especially been critical of the Corvette over the years. Back when the C6 came on the scene for model year 2005, he related the suspension to a "medieval ox cart". Ouch.
Now that the C7 is out, Clarkson is singing a different tune.
He's an idiot. Go back and hear his review of every car he tests and how he loves it. Then 2 years later he thinks its the worst thing ever made.
He's just an entertainer. The more people tuning in to what he says, the better for him.
Two years from now he will say the C7 is gawdy, ugly, poorly engineered with a overly "Americanized" interior, has silly electronics, and is ridiculous to own.
Wait. Just wait.

I like how the C7 gets major props from an internationally listened to car reviewer... and people still complain.
You do realize Top Gear are more clued in to representing what true car aficionados feel about cars than any bs Road and Track or Car and Driver or Motor Trend have to say, right?
Finally! Your right Tom, hell must have frozen over. Decades of trashing the 'Vette, nice to see in my lifetime a European raining such praise on a NA sports car.
Off to pick up my new C7 today, this article makes me feel even better about waiting for the new model.

That's what he did with the ZR1. When they did the road trip with the ZR1, CTS-V, and Challenger, Clarkson had the ZR1 and said "Well done fat men from Kentucky, this is a masterpiece!" A year or so later, they pitted the ZR1 against the R8, and Clarkson had nothing but bad things to say about it.
That is pretty amazing. He usually has nothing good to say about anything from the colonies.
The Limey's don't usually like anything North American. It goes back to our wanting to disassociate ourselves from them and their taxes.
Now look what we have!
Top Gear the magazine reviewed the new Corvette earlier this year and compared it to some of Europe's finest including Porsche. They gave the C7 an excellent review of course!

No, I didn't miss that. I do watch the show though and was hoping to see it reviewed by him on there. I'm looking forward to watching the segment when it is on.
