Black Wheels?
I see a lot of pictures of C7s with black wheels. Is that an option ($495) or is it standard for the '15s?

Black aluminum is still an option for 2015, $495.
There also black machined for 2015, I believe its a $1495 option.

I guess now I'll need to see pictures of both to decide if I want either one of them. Thanks.

I looked at both, was very conflicted, but ended up ordering my 2015 with black aluminum. But it's all about personal preference.

Can I look at them on the web, or do I need to go to a dealer?

Here you go $495 version:
Here is 2015 version (QCC). It has too much chrome/silver for me. Also on constraint.

The black machined wheels were still on 0% constrained on the last list I saw.

OUCH! Doesn't look like a very good option. Sorry it was you, but I would not want an option like that. It might look great from a distance, but up close it leaves a lot to be desired.

It was not me but several have reported chips and dings. Do they all do it? Of course not but standard car paint is not what you put on a wheel. If you like black, buy the no charge silver and powder coat it for less than 500 for all 4.

I had no problem with mine. As a matter of fact ordered the same black for 2015.

The picture begs the Q: Have you looked at them up close (I imagine you have). How many miles do you have on it?

Sure I did...about 2500 miles.
We don't know how that person treated their car or where they drove it. Maybe had a gravel driveway.
I just love the black anyways.
Bought exact same config as 2014.
Go with what you like.

Exactly what I did. The Powder Coat is much more durable than the standard Paint. If you live in S. CA, go to Primo in Huntington Beach.

Your car looks great!
In order to powder coat the wheels, do you have to take the tires off the wheels, and then remount, and rebalance them?
Anybody!!

Yes, absolutely the tires must be taken off. Powder coating involves baking the finish in an oven.

Yes you do...PC requires baking at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or so. A bit of a hassle, but a much better result.
Around here you can get a set PC'd for around $200 + The $100 or so for the wheel work.
Or, as an alternative, you can plastidip them for about $20 (2 cans of anthracite and a can of glossifier) as I did. Gives you a nice rubberized coating that will resist chipping and can be peeled off if you change your mind...

Can we get some sort of consensus as to how many owners of Z51 black wheels have had pitting and rock chip issues??? Thanks
