Default Oil filter

I have 1,500 on my engine, I am going to change the oil filter, Is that to much old school.?? With these new engines,oils and filters

Not sure what you mean by "to (too) much old school." While it may not need it you won't hurt anything changing it early. LOTS AND LOTS of threads on here about oil change interval and whether the first one should be done well before the DIC says it's needed, with no agreement on that last question.

My DIC said 25% at 1560 miles when I changed oil. This seems really odd. My other cars are above 8000 miles at 25%.

Yes it does, I would monitor the DIC for oil change. It will be interesting what the mileage will be.

FWIW, my DIC is showing 60% oil life remaining at 2500 miles. Maybe I don't hammer it enough.
