I placed an order for a 2LT with the Z51 Performance Package this past weekend without the thought in mind of dealership allocation. When I inquired yesterday, I was told by the dealership that they will have their allocation within the next two to three weeks and that they don't expect to disappoint me (does this sound realistic?). This was not very reassuring. I inquired as to how many they sold in 2014 and was told 25 and that my order would be their next Z51.
My thought is that if the dealership "for 2015 models" is allocated for the same quantity as 2014 sales, that placing an order this early should be advantageous. I feel like I got a competitive price. However, I'm left sitting here for the next few weeks wondering if it will allow me enough time to start over again at another dealership who can guarantee that I will get the vehicle that I have been waiting all my life for. Maybe I'm just over anxious and reading into too many threads. I know where to scoop up 2014 models but I have my heart set on the Shark Gray.
I know dealers have been informed their initial 2015 allocations. Got that information from my dealer only last week. I am not sure how far in advance actual allocation dates are assigned. If your dealer says they received notice of 25 allocations for the 2015 model year, I would be inclined to be leave him.
If they're telling you the truth then you might be fine. They know how many allocations they're getting for the year, so it should be easy as dividing that by 12 for an approx monthly allocation. The problem is there is no way of knowing how many Z51's they'll get and Z51 is still on constraint, currently at 55%. If you haven't already talked to the Gen Mgr or Sales Mgr, that might be the next conversation. Just let them know you have some rudimentary knowledge of the allocation process and you would appreciate knowing where you stand. You are paying them a decent profit to provide service to you so they should be willing to follow through honestly.

Thanks Rick. I'm just trying to put my mind at ease. We will see what happens in two weeks. I may pull my deposit.
