M7 Shifter Replacement
1-4 lockout below 19mph since I rarely shift before then, but the constant attempt to shift into 4th at high rev when I'm in 5th and want to go to 6th has finally gotten to be too much....the 2d to 5th attempt doesn't thrill me either...love the car, but the shifter is a real pos! where did they get these things anyway? my only complaint...
From what I've seen, the "go to" replacement shifter is MGW...and a competitor "MTI" that I have recently seen...
Would appreciate any comments from those of you who junked the junk factory shifter on your experiences with the replacement from install to hard use...
btw, does anyone know if anyone is doing installs on either of these at Carlisle this year?
TIA
Lock out when driving at low speed.
I always give it some gas in 1st.Then no problems going to 2nd.
Oh, I bought a nice Callaway shifter for my 2008 and installed it myself in my driveway. The instructions were easy to follow and I took my time. I expect the C7 swap to be similar. Hope this helps.

I hated the stock stock shifter. I frequently missed shifts when driving aggressively at high RPM, primarily I had a freakishly hard time with 2nd to 3rd when shifting at red line.
I bought an MGW and have not missed a shift since. - End of story.
MGW = Clean crisp shift pattern and shifter feels like it "wants" to go into the next gear on its own and just needs a little push from you.
Stock shifter = Crap. Utter complete crap, you will realize this once you feel an MGW.

And in regards to the 1-4 lockout... That has nothing to do with your shifter. Either get turn your "Computer Assisted Gear Shift" function off when you get a good tune OR buy one of the skip shift eliminator wire-harnesses sold on this forum.

To me the stock shifter compared to the MGW is like saying a Yugo will get me around town and has four wheels just like the Vette, why do I need a Vette, let me just get a Yugo...the difference is that dramatic...you think the stock shifter is fine, until you have an MGW...missed shifts?? Not with one of these babies
Crisper more precise shifts, real high quality craftsmanship and George from MGW is great...
I have had MGW shifters in my C5, C6 and now my C7...and am a huge fan of them as you can tell...
Im actually installing one in a C7 for a fellow member of our Yorktown Cars & Coffee today...second one I'm doing for someone else's C7...I like the shifters so much I've offered to install them for those who'd rather not do it themselves...the other one I did was for a fellow forum member from LI, a great guy Dwayne...
Anyway....that's my 2 cents on the matter...

You see it once when you install it and never look at it again....
As for the ****, the stock **** goes on or you can use an aftermarket ****...I don't understand...
The C7 shifter is better overall than the C6 was, but I find I don't use 7th gear because it is (at least on my car) impossible to find 6th gear when downshifting from 7th, my car wants (desperately) to go to 4th.
To the OP: MGW is VERY highly thought of here, that tells you plenty right there.
